Jorge Tapia, Sr.
Jorge Tapia, Sr., 89, a Northland resident in Kansas City, Mo passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. He was born April 23, 1922 in Mexico City, D.F. to Donato and Marie Lusia (Rivera) Tapia.
Jorge was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He spent the majority of his working years as a blacksmith and a butcher. He had a great zest for life and a love for people. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with family and friends. Jorge was a friend to everyone who knew him.
He married Eugenia Campos on February 14, 1949 in Wyandotte County, KS. They would have celebrated 63 years together this month. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include five children, Carlos Mario Tapia of Kansas City, KS; Jorge Tapia, Jr. (Marie) of Olathe, KS; Yolanda Tapia of Kansas City, MO; Rene Tapia of Kansas City, MO and Leticia Gutierrez (Rueben) of Olathe, KS; a sister, Maria Elena Tapia de Rodriguez, Mexico City, D.F. and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Evan Harkins as celebrant. Visitation from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to the mass. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Therese and may be left in care of the Meyers Northland Chapel.

We have fond memories of Jorge and his wife at the Y! We will miss seeing him there. We are thinking of you.
We met Jorge and Eugenia at Church, what a great man! He was always so kind and we always saw him as part of our family. You will be sorely miss, may God give you peace when you seeing in heaven. Que descance en Paz!
