MGySgt Carl William Schoenrock Jr. USMC Ret.

Carl Schoenrock, Jr., 77, of Kansas City, MO, (Northland), passed away December 12, 2011 at his home.  He was born October 18, 1934 in New London, WI, to Carl William Schoenrock, Sr. and Pearl McGowen Schoenrock.  He attended schools in New London.

Carl was a 30 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, entering the service on December 17, 1951 and was honorably discharged on October 5, 1971.  During this time he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War.  Following retirement from the Marine Corps he worked in security for Truman Medical Center in Kansas City and spent 29 years with the Kansas City Star as operations manager in the computer room.  He resided in Kansas City, MO since 1986 and prior to that, he lived in Kansas City, KS for 30 years.

He married Judith A. Martin on June 18, 1960 at the Olathe Naval Air Station in Olathe, KS, she survives of the home.  Additional survivors include eight children: Carl W. Schoenrock, III of Kansas City, MO, Claudette Flynn (Ken) of Columbia, SC, David Mark Schoenrock (Tina), Michael Keith Schoenrock, Kurt Alan Schoenrock, Neal Andrew Schoenrock, Martin Philip Schoenrock and Abby Diane Schoenrock, all of Kansas City, MO; one brother, Gerald Schoenrock of New London, WI; one sister, Wanda Schoenrock of New London, WI; eight grandchildren: David, Jr., Steven, Julia, Jennifer, Zachary, Brittany, Shania, and Trevor.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Douglas; and one sister, Geraldine.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 16, 2011 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Joe Cisetti as celebrant.  A committal service with full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Leavenworth National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville.  Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Therese Catholic Church.  Memories and condolences of Mr. Schoenrock may be left for the family at
