Bette L. Wojtkiewicz | d. October 28, 2009
Bette Wojtkiewicz, 78, Liberty, Mo passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at her home. She was born August 12, 1931 in Jefferson, City, Mo to Ralph E. and Edith Marie (Stamper) Lupardus. She was educated in Jefferson City and earned an associates degree from Southwest Baptist College in Boliver, Mo.
She married Eugene R. Wojtkiewicz in January of 1953. Mr. Wojtkiewicz preceded her in death in January of 2002. Bette and Gene formerly owned and operated the local newspapers in Lockwood and Golden City, Mo. She was a dedicated housewife and member of the Second Baptist Church in Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Russ Wojtkiewicz of Parkville, Mo and David Wojtkiewicz and wife Vikki of Lawson, Mo; three grandchildren, Ashley, Adam and Evan and one great grandchild, Addison.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 30th at the Second Baptist Church in Liberty. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Second Baptist Church or Lungevity Association for Lung Cancer Research.
Charles Lawson | d. October 27, 2009
Charles Lawson, 83, Platte Woods, Mo passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza surrounded by family and his dearest friend Dr. Vincent Lem. Chuck went on his final journey to meet his God. He was born February 10, 1926 in Kansas City, Ks to Roy Anthony and Marie Agnes Cahill Lawson. He graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, Ks. He attended Kansas City Kansas Community College before enlisting in the United States Army. While serving as a cadet in the service, he attended the University of Cincinnati and later the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Charles was employed by Phillips Petroleum for 36 years before retiring as a Computer Testing Supervisor in 1985. He married Clara Ann Lawson on February 23, 1952 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Kansas City, Ks. She survives of the home.
Charles served two terms as Alderman and Mayor of Platte Woods, He organized the Platte Woods Police Department and served as Chief of Police for 25 years; was a member of the Metro Squad for 20 years; was a member of the Metro Detective Squad and until February of 2009 served as the Deputy Chief of Police for the Lake Waukomis Police Department. Charles was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Knight’s of Columbus Council # 7199, Ancient Order of Hiberians, Charter member of the Parkville Jaycee’s and had an extensive history in City Government and Law Enforcement.
He enjoyed trout fishing with his family and friends, working crossword puzzles, reading the newspaper, attending the Opera and Kansas City Ballet, and watching Notre Dame football.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Frances, Roy and Gene Lawson. In addition to his wife, Clara, he is survived by a son, Sam D. Lawson and wife Laurette of Kansas City, North; three grandsons, Brian D. Lawson and wife Danielle of Buffalo, NY, Nicolas B. Lawson of Kansas City, North and Cole Cahill Lawson of Kansas City, North.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Therese Catholic Church 7207 N.W. 9 Highway, Kansas City, Mo 64152 with Rev. Michael Roach as celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection North Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Therese Rosary Garden.
Ronald Paul Stuteville | d. October 20, 2009
Ronald “Ron” Stuteville, 56, Kansas City, MO. died unexpectedly October 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1953 in Kansas City, MO. to Roy E. and Doris E. (Travis) Stuteville. He was a graduate of Park Hill High School. He was preceded in death by his father.
Ron was a veteran of the United States Army and Army National Guard. He was employed with Harley Davidson as a painter and Assembly –line worker. He was a member of the VFW Post #7356 of Parkville and a member of the N.R.A.
Ron leaves behind his children; James Stuteville, North Kansas City, MO, Donny Stuteville, Kansas City, MO, Tami Bryan, Pleasant Valley, MO, Amy Josephson, Kansas City, MO, Erica Radolovich of Leawood, KS. His mother, Doris E. (Travis) Stuteville of Parkville, MO, 3 sisters, Judy Clark of St. Joseph, MO, Sue Ann Cliest, Baldwin City, KS and Dona Kitchen of Kansas City, MO; his beloved 8 grandchildren and one on the way.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. A committal service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 27th at Leavenworth National Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the United Sates Army Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disable Veterans.
Claudia Henley | d. October 16, 2009
Claudia Henley, 57, long time resident of Weatherby Lake, MO passed away on October 16, 2009.
Claudia was born on May 5, 1952 in Independence, MO, the only child of Claude and Mary (Scott) Henley. She was a 1970 graduate of Park Hill High School and continued her education at MU (1974) where she earned her Bachelors Degree in History and Art. Claudia also received her MBA from Rockhurst. Claudia was formerly employed as an Assistant Vice-President at Kansas City Life. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and was a Past President of the Weatherby Lake Women’s Club. Claudia loved to learn and passed that joy onto others. She was devoted to her dogs and cats and was a member of the Heart of America Chinese Shar-Pei Club. Claudia had many talents and loved to spend her extra time reading, gardening and doing arts and crafts. She was a cherished daughter and friend, and will be truly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
Claudia leaves behind her mother, Mary Crafton & husband, Thomas of Weatherby Lake, MO; aunts, Bertha Long & husband, Ray of Joplin, MO, Edice Rees of Springfield, MO; uncle, James Henley & wife, Dorothy of Independence, MO; step-sisters, Laurie Crafton of Foley, AL, Carrie Allen & husband, Tom of Smithville, MO; numerous cousins, including Linda, Nanette, Jimmy, David, Ray Michael, and Denny; and her beloved “rude” friends, affectionately known as the “Bunco Babes”.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Overman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence, MO. The family suggests memorial contributions to “We Luv Paws” Shar-Pei rescue.
Pamela Uphoff | d. October 13, 2009
Pamela Uphoff, 72, Riverside, MO passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. She was born February 20, 1937 in Manchester, England to Arthur and Rose (Pierce) Fairclough. They preceded her in death. She was educated in England.
Pamela was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in the Northland. She enjoyed reading, learning, studying History and Anthropology.
Survivors include a son, A. Wesley Uphoff, Ferrelview, MO; three daughters, Cindy Rude, Kansas City, North, Dianna L. Kline, Lenexa, KS and Victoria E. Highfill, Riverside, MO; 11 grandchildren.
A gathering celebrating Pamela’s life will be 2 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the St. James Lutheran Church, 1104 NE Vivion Rd. Kansas City, MO with special remarks by Rev. Russ Creydt. Memorials are suggested to the Tuberculosis Association.
Wilma Alberta Pike | d. October 9, 2009
Wilma Alberta Pike, 94, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away on October 9, 2009 at the Rehabilitation Center of Raymore.
Wilma was born on January 17, 1915 in Waldron, Missouri, the daughter of Walter A. and Mary A. (Morris) Greenwood. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Alfred Pike on March 18, 1931 in Platte City, Missouri. Wilma was employed as a supervisor at Sealright for many years. In her younger years, she loved to go on motorcycle rides with her husband. She also enjoyed fishing and camping out with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Leland Pike and Bill Pike; and three siblings.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Shirley Morroto & husband, William Flathers of Peculiar, MO; son, Larry Pike & wife, Sharon of Smithville, MO; siblings, Aleta Reynolds of Avondale, MO, Tom Greenwood of Independence, MO, and Rosemary Pierce & husband, June of Waldron, MO; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. Bill Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Barbara A. Montoya | d. October 8, 2009
Barbara A. Montoya, 47, of Kansas City, North, passed away unexpectedly on October 8, 2009 at her home.
Barb was born on March 31, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Margaret Amos. She was a 1979 graduate of Northeast High School. On November 14, 1985, she was united in marriage to Tony E. Montoya. Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, and a sister.
Barb leaves behind her husband, Tony of the home; children, Eric E. Montoya of Kansas City, North; Nena M. Burgard of Liberty, MO; Antoinette M. Montoya of Kansas City, North; mother, Margaret Amos of Kansas City, MO; brother, Danny L. Amos of Wisconsin; sisters, Linda K. Amos of Kansas City, Kansas and Evelyn A. Montoya of Kansas City, North; and her beloved grandchildren, Roman and Lincoln.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. The family will begin to receive friends at 11:30 am. The committal service will be held at 2:30 pm at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
David Danner | d. October 5, 2009
David Danner, 82, Richmond, MO passed away Monday, October 5, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born January 26, 1927 in Courtney, MO to David William and Cora Danner. He was a graduate of Wellington High School.
He married Viola M. Haines on December 9, 1967 in Lexington, Mo. She survives of the home in Richmond.
David was a veteran of the United States Navy and longtime member of the Carpenter’s Union Local # 1392 in Independence, MO. He was a member of the Richmond American Legion Post #237 and was a Christian by faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister. In addition to his wife Viola, he is survived by a son, George L. Danner of Lexington, MO.
Mr. Danner has been cremated under the direction of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland in Parkville, Mo. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, Mo. A memorial service will be held at the Richmond American Legion Hall at a later date.
Robert Lee Mattox | d. October 5, 2009
Robert Lee Mattox, 72, passed away at his home on October 5, 2009. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. The funeral service will be held at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, Parkville, MO, at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 8, 2009. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Parkville Animal Welfare Society.
Bob was born in the Belgium Bottoms (Parkville), Missouri on April 18, 1937, the son of John W. and Selma G. (Ameel) Mattox. He was a 1955 graduate of Park Hill High School, where he loved to play football. He was a half-back for the football team and Class President his senior year. He also served as President for the Jaycees in the early 1960’s. Bob worked for Shelter Insurance as a Claims Supervisor for over 35 years. He enjoyed his retirement and spent ten years volunteering at Meals on Wheels and eleven years serving as an Ambassador at KCI. Bob was a former member of the KCI Ski Club, loved to water ski at the Lake of the Ozarks, ride his motorcycle, drive his blue Corvette and ride horseback. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Fran, of the home; one daughter, Leanne Pendergraft & husband, Doyle of Leavenworth, KS; three grandchildren, Rory & wife, Gloria, Meagen, Lucas; two great-grandchildren, Deanne and Braden; and many close friends and his pets, Kaiser, Chris, Falcon & Coco.
Frank Thomas McCall | d. October 4, 2009
Frank Thomas McCall, 49, of Parkville, Missouri passed away unexpectedly, October 4, 2009. Frank was born June 16, 1960 in Kansas City, Missouri the son of James W. and Mary A. (Disciacca) McCall. He was a 1978 graduate of Park Hill High School and went on to earn his Bachelors Degree in Economics at Park University. He was a true entrepreneur and owned many companies, including FTM Vending, Co. and Franks Italian Restaurant in Parkville, MO. He was a member of the Parkville Community Improvement District, Parkville Chamber of Commerce, and the Parkville Main Street Association. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7199.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Frank leaves behind his wife, Susan (Gross) of the home; son, Brent T. McCall of Parkville, Missouri; mother, Mary Ann McCall of North Kansas City, MO; three brothers, James E. McCall & wife, Patricia of Parkville, MO, Donald W. McCall & wife, Kelley of Jersey City, NJ; Mark T. McCall of Higginsville, MO; and a sister, Judy A. McCall of Higginsville, MO.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Rev. Duc Nguyen as celebrant. A private committal service will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Therese Catholic Church where a Parish and Knight’s of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Frank Thomas McCall Memorial Fund to be established at a later date in care of Patriots Bank in Parkville.
Melissa V. Linville | d. October 3, 2009
Melissa V. Linville, 52, passed away unexpectedly on October 3, 2009. She was born on April 24, 1957 in Kansas City, MO to Vernard B. and Carolyn J. (Harrington) Linville, who preceded her in death. She was a 1975 graduate of Park Hill High School. Melissa worked for many years as a Dental Hygienist in North Kansas City.
She leaves behind her beloved sisters, Debra Bears & husband, Steve of North Kansas City, MO and Carolyn Engelbrecht & husband, Ronald of Lexington, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Friday, October 9, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. Private inurnment will be in Platte City Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to FOPAS.

David Lee Adair | d. October 2, 2009
David Lee Adair, Jr., 36, Parkville, MO passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at his home. He was born May 9, 1973 in Tulsa, OK to Peggy Hundley and David Lee Adair, Sr. His father preceded him in death. He graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, OK and later became a certified mechanic for the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company. He attended the Park Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his parents, Peggy and David Erdwin of Parkville; two brothers, Sean Erdwin of Parkville and Jason Adair of Tulsa, OK.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 6th at the Park Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Dave Overman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Mr. Adair will be transported to the Rose Hill Funeral Home in Tulsa where the body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Thursday with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Contributions are suggested to the Park Hill Baptist Church.
Charles Patrick Daily | d. October 2, 2009
Charles Patrick Daily, 75 Kansas City, North passed away Friday, October 2, 2009 at his home. Pat, as he was known to everyone, was born December 9, 1933 in Clay Center, KS to Francis Vernon and Mary Elizabeth Daily. He graduated from DeLaSalle Military Academy as a Cadet Captain in 1951, and was employed by the Defense Mapping Agency until May of 1953. He served his country until 1961, being Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant, and resumed employment with the Defense Mapping Agency Aero Space Center in Kansas City, MO. He was transferred to St. Louis in 1988 and retired as a cartographer in December of 1991 from the National Aerospace Imagery Intelligence Agency in St. Louis. Pat had a secondary profession as a photographer since 1955 until present time. The last five years he specialized in photographing political candidates and was very active in the Kansas City Ski Club since 1973, along with their golf and tennis leagues. He was also a member of the Kansas City Singles Golf Association for several years.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. He is survived by four sisters, Rosanna Prestia, LaVone Daily Scott, Mary Mueller and Theresa Pemberton. He is also survived by many other family members, friends and his beloved dog Chelse.
Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland 401 Main St. Parkville, Mo 64152. Committal service 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
