Victor Elder | d. May 28, 2009

Victor ElderVictor Elder, 68, Oregon, MO passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Oregon Care Center. He was born July 1, 1940 in St. Joseph, MO to Dale and Bramilett Elder. He was reared by his grandmother, Arlina Elder.

He attended school in Mound City and later worked many years for the former St. Joseph State Hospital. Victor enjoyed running errands for his grandmother and was the kind of person that never met a stranger. He was a Christian by faith.

Graveside service and burial will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mound City. The body will lie in state from 12-1 p.m. Monday at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland in Parkville, MO. Contributions are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.


Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Robert Seibold | d. May 17, 2009

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Robert SeiboldLieutenant Colonel Ronald Robert Seibold, 71, Kansas City, North passed away Sunday, May 17, 2009 at his home following a courageous 23-year battle with cancer. He was born on March 9, 1938 in Granite City, IL to Robert and Freda Seibold. Ron graduated from Granite City High School in 1956 and from Illinois College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Ron was President of the Sigma Pi fraternity from 1960-1961.

Ron was a pilot for TWA from 1968-1994. For 10 of those years, he was also an Airline Safety Instructor for Pilots and Flight Attendants at the TWA Training Center. He received his training in the United States Air Force. He was engaged in active duty from 1961-1968 and served in the reserves from 1971-1985 when he retired as Lt. Colonel. He was a Vietnam Veteran having served there in 1966 and 1967 as a pilot (C-124) and Military Airlift Command Center Coordinator. In the reserves, he initiated and directed rescue operations within the United States from Scott AFB, Belleville, Illinois.

As much as Ron loved to fly airplanes, he loved fishing even more! He also enjoyed restoring cars, golfing, watching sports (especially when his children or grandchildren were playing) and listening to live jazz/blues music. He will be remembered as a patient teacher, a wise man, a good father, a Mr. Fix-It, a “professional tinkerer” and a “fighter” till the end!

Survivors include the mother of his children, Sharon Seibold; a son, David Seibold and wife Deana of Parkville, MO; a daughter, Deborah Lind and husband David of West Des Moines, IA; two sisters, Roberta Miller of Kimberling City, MO and Marilyn McKechan of Glen Carbon, IL; and three grandchildren, Morgan and Mason Lind, and Chase Poston.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. A private family memorial service will be held at the Parkville Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 29, 2009. Rev. Matthew Reeves will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Mid-America Chapter, 6811 W. 63rd St., Bldg 1, Suite 202, Shawnee Mission, KS, 66202 or may be left in care of the funeral home.


Wilma Cronkleton | d. May 17, 2009

Wilma CronkletonWilma Cronkleton, 81, Kansas City, North passed away May 17, 2009 at the St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. She was born January 17, 1928 in Davenport, IA to Talbert and Cecilia (Rehkoph) Potter. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in Davenport and became a registered nurse through the nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Davenport. She later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from St. Ambrose College in Davenport.

She and Thomas E. Cronkleton, M.D., were united in marriage on June 6, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Davenport. Dr. Cronkleton preceded her in death in 2000.

Wilma began her career as a telephone operator. She worked as a nurse, a nurse supervisor and a nursing instructor at Mercy Hospital and later as a nurse at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Iowa City. She worked as the school secretary and nurse for the St. Laurence Elementary School in Laramie, WY. She then worked for the Laramie Game and Fish Department before joining the Physical Education Department at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Parkville and was a member of the Wednesday Bible Study group. Wilma always placed God and her family before anything else.

Survivors include her family, Fr. Tom Cronkleton of Cheyenne, WY, Kevin Cronkleton and wife Michelle of Wichita, KS. Meg Cronkleton of Gladstone, MO, Andrew Vanderlin of Wenatchee, WA, Rich Cronkleton and wife Suzy of Kansas City, North, Robert Cronkleton of Kansas City, MO, Susan Sicoli and husband Chris of Kansas City, North, Phil Cronkleton of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren: Karl, Jenna, Taylor, Sarah, Rob, MaryBeth, Sydney, Clay, Daniel and a sister-in-law, Marcella Potter of Cedar Rapids, IA.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Cathy Vanderlin; a brother, Talbert Potter; two sisters, Nancy Williamson and Cecil Potter. The Pallbearers will be Kevin, Rich, Robert and Phil Cronkleton, Andrew Vanderlin, Henry Kidd and Chris Sicoli.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7207 N.W. 9 Highway, Kansas City, MO 64152 with Most Rev. Bishop Joseph Hart as Principal Celebrant. Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Ann’s Church Cemetery in Long Grove, IA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at St. Therese Catholic Church where a Vigil Service will be held at 7
p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the
St. Therese Building Fund.


Jim Wulff | d. May 12, 2009

Jim WulffJim Wulff, 51, Kansas City North passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital.  He was born March 4, 1958 in Kansas City, Mo. to John and Merle Wilson Wulff.  He was a 1976 graduate of Ruskin High School and later received a BA from DeVry Institute in 1989.  He was scheduled to receive a MA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix May 30, 2009. 

Jim was employed by Specialized Publications in Parkville, MO as the IT Manager.  He attended Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church on Barry Rd, member of the Boy Scout Troop #1395, member of the Mic-O-Say Tribe and Order of the Arrow Brotherhood.  He currently served as treasurer for the M.A.T.A.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He married Linda Sue Mackey on April 17, 1982 at the St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kansas City.  She survives of the home.  Additional survivors include his mother, Merle Pace of Kansas City, Mo; two sons, Michael Anthony Wulff (Stacey) of Holden, Mo. and Jeffery Arron Wulff of the home; a daughter, Amanda Sue Lapore (Lloyd, III) of Gladstone, Mo; three brothers, Howard Wulff of Overland Park, Ks, Steve Wulff of Independence, Mo. and Paul Wulff of Pecular, Mo; a sister, Theresa Wulff of Lee’s Summit, Mo; two grandchildren, Bradley and Chandler.  His father preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Gordon officiating.  Cremation will follow the service with burial of the cremated remains at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Parkville.  The family will receive friends from 10-11a.m. at the church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Boy Scouts of America. 


Beverley Gillette | d. May 11, 2009

Beverley GilletteBeverley Gillette, 61, Parkville, MO passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at the St. Luke’s Hospital on the Plaza. She was born February 22, 1948 in Sedalia, MO to Albert Shurman and Ida Brownfield Howard. She graduated from the Green Ridge High School in 1966.

She was a homemaker and longtime member of the South Platte Baptist Church in Platte County, Mo. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She married James Rollin Gillette on August 25, 1968 in Green Ridge, Mo. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include two daughters, Angela Gillette of Kansas City North and Shauna Dempsey and husband Joseph of Kansas City North; three sisters, Rita Bowlin, Sharon Phillips and Mary Howard all of Sedalia, Mo. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the South Platte Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Carlisle officiating. Burial will be held at the Climax Springs, Mo. Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Friday at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Memorial contributions are suggested to the South Platte Baptist Church.


Alfred Campos | d. May 10, 2009

Alfred CamposAlfred Campos, 92, Santa Clara, CA passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 at El Camino Hospital in El Camino, CA. He was born November 2, 1916 to Joseph and Irene (Perry) Campos. He graduated High School in Summerville, MA. He late graduated from the Bentley School of Accounting in Boston, MA. He joined the United States Army on January 7, 1942 and was honorably discharged on December 29, 1945.

Alfred married Evelyn Fry on September 15, 1943 at the Co-Cathedral Catholic Church in St. Joseph. She survives of the home in Santa Clara. He spent the majority of his working years as Financial Manager for the Veteran’s Administration Hospitals throughout the United States.

In addition to his wife Evelyn, he is survived by a brother in law, Louis Fry of Weatherby Lake, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings.

A committal service with military honors will be held 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to a charity of the donor’s choice.


Beverly L. Hushen | d. May 6, 2009

Beverly L. HushenBeverly L. Hushen, 71, Parkville, MO formerly of Harlingen, TX passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at the Woodbine nursing facility in Clay County, MO. She was born June 15, 1937 in Harlingen, TX. She graduated from the Harlingen High School.

She was employed as a secretary in the Insurance business for over 25 years. She was a former member of the Church of Christ in Harlingen. She had lived most of her life in Harlingen.

Her parents, Ira (Pat) and Beatrice Laverne Ripley Adair, and husband, John Millslagle preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Gayle Millslagle-Daily of Parkville; two sons, Randall Bryson Millslagle of Iowa Park, TX and Rodney Gene Millslagle of Wichita, KS; a brother, Norm Wayne Adair, Tomball, TX; a sister, Shirley Medley, Spring, TX and three grandchildren, Matthew, Logan and Randy, Jr.

A memorial service will be held 2:00p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, Parkville, MO. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. Memorial contributions are suggested to Regional Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.


Bill Bratten | d. May 3, 2009

Bill BrattenBill Bratten, 64, Parkville, Mo passed away unexpectedly May 3, 2009 at his home. He was born January 11, 1945 in Dayton, OH to Charles Sr. and Rose W. Hager Bratten. He was a 1965 graduate of Park Hill High School.

He joined the United States Army on March 20, 1964 and served in Vietnam. He was awarded two Purple Hearts during this time and was honorably discharged on January 2, 1967. He spent the majority of his working years as a Bail Bondsman in the Kansas City area and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing.

He was preceded in death by his mother and three brothers. Survivors include the mother of his children, Jacqueline Benn; two sons, Keven Michael Bratten of Platte City, MO. and Sean William Bratten of Kansas City, Mo; a daughter, Ketia Marie Hulett of Smithville; his father, Charles Sr. of Parkville; seven grandchildren, Sara, Aaron, Tyler, Nicholas, Alicia, Ashley, Karsyn and two step grandchildren, Blake and Britteny.

A prayer service and recitation of the rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland . The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. The body will be cremated following the service. A committal service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 11th at the Leavenworth National Cemetery where Military Honors will be presented under the auspices of the United States Army. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Red Cross.
