Martin Roberts | d. March 31, 2009
Martin Roberts, 66, Kansas City, North passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born April 27, 1942 in Callao, MO to Murvin F. and Nettie E. Martin Roberts. They preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Northeast High School in Kansas City.
He and Elizabeth “Ann” Barton were united in marriage on August 12, 1961 in Kansas City. She survives of the home. Martin owned and operated his own Limo Service in Kansas City for several years. He was a member of the former Valley Memorial Baptist Church in Kansas City. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
In addition to his wife Ann, he is survived by a son, Jeff Roberts, Kansas City, North; a daughter, Cathy Schlesser, Castle Rock, CO; a brother, David Roberts, Kansas City, MO and three grandchildren, Caleb, Liam and Oliver.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 6, at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152 with Rev. Paul Adams officiating. Graveside services and burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Fitzgerald Cemetery, Bynumville, MO. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes association and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Donald F. Beach | d. March 27, 2009
Pops Beach 79, Riverside, MO passed away Friday, March 27, 2009 at his home. He was born January 17, 1930 in Ontario, Canada to Frederick H. and Minnie Lavern Lovejoy. They preceded him in death. Pops was educated in Watertown, NY and was a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served in World War II.
Pops was self employed for many years and most recently worked as a security officer for Kendallwood Hospice. He was a Christian by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick H. Beach, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Sue Bevens, Amity, AR and Ronda Lou Burnett, Smithville, MO; three sons, Donald Diedrich Beach, Kansas City, MO, Donald George Beach, Haines, AK and Troy Anthony Beach, Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Rose Nelson, Dixon, MO and Betty Lee of Alabama; numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. Burial will follow at the East Slope Cemetery in Riverside, MO with military honors under the auspices of the United States Navy. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to Kendallwood Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Patricia Freeland | d. March 5, 2009
Patricia Freeland, 78, a life long Northland resident passed away March 5, 2009. Pat was born October 5, 1930 to Roland E. and Frances (Elliott) Williams on the family farm north of Barry, Mo, now Kansas City, Mo. Pat attended a one room school house in Barry before graduating from the North Kansas City High School in 1948. She was an LPN at North Kansas City Hospital before embarking on a career in the insurance business. She worked at National Fidelity Life and then Allied Administrators where she retired in 1992 after 21 years there.
Pat loved to do counted cross-stitch and gave many examples of her handi-work to family and friends. She was also an excellent cook, making some of the best beans, ribs and brisket anyone could make. Her family was very important to her and she always remembered family birthdays and special occasions with a card or a call. She was a life long member of Barry Christian Church and in her later years also attended First Baptist Church of North Kansas City. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Roland, Jr. and Douglas Williams. She is survived by her children; Harold Hamilton, Albuquerque, NM, Lesle Nicely and husband Everett and Lynda Asby and husband David, both of Kansas City; eight grandchildren, Allister, Mitchell, Caitlin, Courtney, Cecina, Kristin, Byron and Chris and his wife Michelle; three great grandchildren; sister, Joyce Ross and husband Marv; brother Barry Williams and wife Barbara and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Barry Christian Church with Rev. Robert J. George and Rev. Tiger Pennington officiating. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at the Barry Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. Sunday at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. Contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Mary E. Mobley | d. March 1, 2009
Mary E. Mobley, 52, Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at a Kansas City health care facility. She was born September 22, 1956 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Don and Elaine (Chance) Blachly. Mr. Blachly preceded her in death in April of 1982. She was a graduate of Lafayette High School and Missouri Western State College, both of St. Joseph. Mary had been employed by Hallmark Cards in Kansas City since 1976. She truly enjoyed her career at Hallmark Cards.
She was a member of Marvin McMurray Methodist Church in St. Joseph and attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City. Throughout her long illness, Mary’s patience and uncomplaining attitude has been an inspiration to her friends, family and fellow cancer patients.
She and Bob Mobley were united in marriage on November 11, 1995 in St. Joseph. Mr. Mobley survives of the home. Additional survivors include her mother, Elaine Blachly, St. Joseph; sisters, Kathy Daly and husband John, St. Joseph, and Patty Eberly and husband Chris, Cameron, MO; aunt, Nellie Pauline Chance, St. Joseph; brother-in-law, Jim Mobley, Pueblo, CO; sister-in-law, Lib Mobley, Ft. Collins, CO; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Betty Ann Mobley, Holly Springs, MS; four nieces and four nephews; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. We will all miss Mary’s gentleness, her kindness and zest for life.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with Rev. Msgr. Robert S. Gregory as celebrant. Graveside services and interment will be 11:00a.m. Saturday at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Holly Springs, MS. The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. Wednesday at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152 and for one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorial Contribution’s are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left in care of the funeral home.
