Teresa Pemberton | d. December 29, 2009

Teresa PembertonTeresa Pemberton, 73, Liberty, MO passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Liberty Hospital. She was born June 2, 1936 in Kansas City, KS to Francis Vernon and Mary Elizabeth (Henry) Daily. They preceded her in death. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, KS and from the former Mt. St. Scholastica College in Atchison, KS.

She spent the majority of her working years as an Elementary school teacher. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Liberty.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and Michael Dolan; four brothers and one sister. Survivors include her three daughters, Lisa Blain of Kansas City KS, Maureen Atkin of Denver, CO and Clarise Smith of Bethany, MO; two sisters, Mary Mueller of Parkville, MO and LaVone Daily of Shawnee Mission, KS; 9 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church in Liberty, MO with Rev. Timothy Armbruster as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to the church.


Franklin Turner | d. December 25, 2009

Franklin Turner, 62, Kansas City, North passed away Christmas Day 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born March 18, 1947 in Oakland, CA to Idas and Anna (Pedersen) Turner. He moved to Kansas City from California in 2005.

He married Sherri Jane Stark on August 26, 1997 in California. She survives of the home. He was a veteran of the United States Army and Lutheran by faith. He spent the last 10 years as a Website Developer and was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one daughter. In addition to his wife, Sherri, he is survived by a son, Joshua of California; a brother, Steven and a sister, Janis, both of California.

Mr. Turner has been cremated under the direction of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. There are no scheduled services.


Marcene Letellier | d. December 25, 2009

Marcene Letellier, 89, Kansas City, North passed away on Christmas Day 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 30, 1920 in Minneapolis, MN to Bennie S. and Ida I. (Deline) Larson. She attended schools in Minnesota.

Marcene worked for Allied Lithographing in Kansas City for over 28 years. She was a Christian by faith.

Survivors include her children, James L. Letellier of North Kansas City,MO; Carla L. Schank and husband Alan of Kansas City, North; DeeIda E. Rader and husband Robert of Kansas City, North; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Apryl, Christina, Aaron and a great grandson, Austin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Contributions are suggested to the Marcene Letellier Memorial Fund and may be left in care of the funeral home.


Marjorie Hackl | d. December 23, 2009

Marjorie HacklMarjorie Hackl, 83, Kansas City, North, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital. She was born May 23, 1926 in New Kinsington, PA to Joseph and Anna (Slanicka) Hackl. She graduated from the Arnold High School in Arnold, PA in 1944.

Marjorie was employed with ALCO for 41 years as a secretary. She retired in 1987. She was a member of the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in the Northland and former member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Arnold, PA.

Survivors include a sister, Donna Hackl of Kansas City, North and a brother, Joseph Hackl of Queen Creek, AZ; a niece, Karen Prohaska and family of Queen Creek, AZ; a nephew, Kevin Hackl of Lawrence, KS; an aunt, Mary Kengor of Creighton, PA and several cousins in Pennsylvania.

A memorial service celebrating Marjorie’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5409 NW 72nd St. Kansas City, MO with Pastors Neil and Sacia Vic officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10-11 at the church. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at the Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Lower Burrell, PA. Wilford P. Eynard | d. December 20, 2009

Wilford P. EynardWilford P. Eynard, 90, of Weatherby Lake, MO passed away Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the Riverside Nursing Center. He was born October 17 1919 at Bonnots Mill, MO. He lived in the Platte County area and was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church since 1951 and a resident of Weatherby Lake since 1970.

Survivors include one son and his spouse, Ralph and Mary Eynard of the home and of Bartlesville, OK; two grandchildren and their spouses, Christina and John Welch of Boulder, CO., and James and Annie Eynard of Portland, OR and four great grandchildren, Maeve, Quinton, William and Viola Eynard, all of Portland, OR; a sister, Ruth Marie Kuster of Linn, MO; numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Margaret Westburg of Woodland Hills, CA. He was preceded in death by Evelyn, his wife of 65 years and one sister and two brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Bonnots Mill, MO with Rev. Ignatius Medina as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. Therese Catholic Church or St. Louis Catholic Church and may be left in care of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152.


Howard Hey | d. December 13, 2009

Howard HeyHoward Hey, 85, Kansas City, MO, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009, at his home. He was born February 18, 1924, in Platte County to Christian Evan Hey, Sr. and Louisa Emma (Klamm) Hey. He graduated from the former Parkville High School.

Howard was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. While serving in Germany, he received the Purple Heart for his sacrifices. Howard married Marilyn L. Schultz on May 21, 1950, in Bronx, NY. She survives of the home.

For 34 years, Howard worked as a rural mail carrier for the Parkville Post Office. He retired in 1981 and proudly accepted the position as the first president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees-Chapter #2256. When his sons were in Cub Scouts, he took on the position of Cubmaster for Parkville Cub Scout Pack #333. A passion for farm equipment, especially antique machinery, spurred his active participation in the Platte County Gas and Steam Association and his annual excitement for the Platte County Steam Show, even in the dog days of August. In the Parkville American Legion Post #318, he contributed as Post Commander. A charter member of Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, Howard served as both an elder and deacon. Howard enjoyed spending time with family and friends. With his knack for telling jokes and his hearty laugh, Howard was often the life of the party.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Darlene, Ruth and Dorothy; and one brother, Bud. In addition to his wife Marilyn, he is survived by his children, Gary Lynn Hey and wife Connie of Kansas City, MO; Gregory Lee Hey and wife Beth of Kansas City, MO; Karen Louise Hey Goldblatt and husband Marc of Phoenix, AZ; Kevin Howard Hey and wife Beth of Kansas City, MO; ten grandchildren, Chad, Chris, Tyler, Erin, Joshua, Kendra, Austin, Caley, Joel, and Allison; and two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Kiernan.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Matthews Cemetery in Riverside, MO. The family will receive friends Friday, from 5-7 p.m., at Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church or Parkville American Legion Post #318.


Jerry Meek | d. December 11, 2009

Jerry MeekJerry Meek, 88, longtime resident of Gladstone, MO passed away Friday, December 11, 2009 at The Gardens of Barry Road. She was born March 21, 1921 in Kansas City, Mo to Loda O. and Elizabeth A. (Byrnes) Gunn. She graduated from St. Aloysius Catholic High School in Kansas City. During World War II she worked as a secretary for North American Aviation, Burd and Fletcher Printing Co., and later for the Englewood Baptist Church Child Care. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother.

She married Dale Meek on January 29, 1949. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1990.

Jerry enjoyed crocheting and ceramic painting. She was a former Campfire Girl Leader and enjoyed taking care of her family. She enjoyed her time at the Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. She was a member of the Playgirls Bowling team at Gladstone Bowl. As a child she attended St. Stephens Catholic Church in Kansas City and was a longtime active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Gladstone. She was active in many of the church circles, including the Friendly Club and Women of Wisdom. Jerry also assisted with funeral luncheons and the church food pantry.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jim Gunn and a sister, Marjorie Porter. Survivors include a daughter, Christine A. Stephens and husband Ted of Parkville, MO; three sons, Lawrence E. Meek of Fort Worth, TX, Dale J. Meek and wife Patricia of Kansas City, MO and Timothy M. Meek of Overland Park, KS; six grandchildren, Kara (Stephens) Stowers, Kyle Stephens, Elizabeth Meek, Dale J. Meek, Kelly Meek and Adam Meek.

Mass of Christian burial will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 15th at St. Charles Catholic Church with Rev. Ken Riley as Celebrant. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, MO 64118.


Hillary Pobee | d. December 10, 2009

Hillary PobeeHillary Pobee, 63, Riverside, MO passed away December 10, 2009 at the Riverside Nursing Home. He was born January 16, 1946 in Ghana, West Africa to Pobee Essien and Akua Duku. His mother survives in West Africa. He attended schools in Ghana.

He moved to New Jersey in 1978 and lived there until moving to Kansas City in 1997. He had been employed by the Argosy Casino for five years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Richard Pobee and daughter, Marvis Pobee of West Africa; six siblings, Jennifer Edon, London, Swanzy Essien, Ghana, Kate Essien, Ghana, David Essien, Ghana, Max Millian Essien, Atlanta, GA and Anne Mends, Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his father and two siblings.

A funeral; service celebrating his life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Burial will follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Parkville. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.


John T. (Jack) Schott | d. December 10, 2009

John T. (Jack) SchottJohn T. (Jack) Schott, 54, Plattsburg, MO passed away unexpectedly, December 10, 2009 at the University of Kansas Hospital. He was born December 7, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to John T. and Lois A. (Rice) Schott. His father preceded him in death on November 9, 2009. He was a 1974 graduate of Park Hill High School and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Park College in 1977 where he earned a BA in Business Economics.

Jack began working for Platte County Cable Company in 1977, which his father founded in the late 1960’s. In 1983 he started a Satellite Sales Co. in Smithville, MO and 1987 he started Premier Home Theatre in Smithville. In 1993 Jack became a Farmers Insurance agent and owned Schott Insurance Agency in Platte Woods. He also sold and invested in Real Estate and worked in Property Management. Jack was very proud to have been self-employed everyday since college. He was a member of the Parkville Rotary Club and was proud to be a Paul Harris Fellow award recipient. He served as President of the Par IV Home Owners Association. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing table games, poker, target shooting, and had a passion for writing.

He married Barbara A. Floyd on April 29, 1983 in Kansas City. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his mother, Lois of Parkville; two children, Christopher Michael Schott and wife Jenny of Kansas City and John T. (J.T.) Schott III, of the home. A sister, Debra L. Schott of Laguna Beach, CA; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Justin Schott.

A memorial service celebrating Jack’s life will be held 7p.m. December 17th at the Platte Woods Church with Rev. Steve Breon and Ginger Pudenz officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the John T. Schott Scholarship Fund in care of the Parkville Rotary Club.


Brenda K. Grimm | d. December 7, 2009

Brenda K. GrimmBrenda K. Grimm, 47, Kansas City, North passed away Monday, December 7, 2009 at the North Kansas City Hospital. She was born March 30, 1962 in Hawthorne, CA to Donald E. and Sharon L. (Haley) Grimm. She graduated from Park Hill High School in 1980 and attended St. Therese Catholic Church in the Northland.

Survivors include her parents, Don and Sharon of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Bryon Grimm, Longview, TX; two sisters, Jann Maddex and Jennifer Grimm, both of Kansas City, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 p.m. Saturday, December 12th at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Following the visitation there will be a gathering for lunch at the Wooldridge Center, located downstairs at St. Therese Church.
