Carol June Pearson | d. May 28, 2008
Carol June Pearson, age 83, of North Kansas City, Missouri, said good-bye to illness and struggles on Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at North Kansas City Hospital. Born in Prairie City, Iowa on July 17, 1924, Carol smiled, laughed and loved her way through 83 years of life and family.
Carol was the first born child of Murn and Ruth Parks. She was a sister to Pat Burton of Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Howard Warren Pearson for 58 years prior to his death in 2002. She gave birth to four children. Her oldest son, David Warren Pearson, died in 2006.
She is survived by Douglas Scott Pearson of Yuma, Ariz., Polly Ann Pearson Plivelich and her husband Rod of Albuquerque, N.M., Brian Parks Pearson of Kansas City, Mo., and David's daughter, Paige Pearson of Bondurant, Iowa.
The love of her family was her life's career. Carol devoted herself to volunteering to help her family and other families. She was a den mother for Boy Scouts, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a President of the Platte County Council of PTAs with a life membership, a Red Cross Volunteer, a guardian for Job's Daughters, a coordinator for DeMolay's, and a past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. June 10, 2008, at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland in Parkville. Inurnment will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Robert Petty | d. May 23, 2008
Robert Petty, 80, Gladstone, MO formerly of St. Joseph, MO passed away Friday, May 23, 2008 at the Heritage Village in Gladstone.
Mr. Petty was born October 14, 1927 in Maryville, MO to the parents of Earl Amos and Mildred E. Petty. They preceded him in death. He attended Maryville Public schools. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea. He was retired from the Ford Motor Company.
Mr. Petty was a Christian by faith. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post in St. Joseph and a past member of the American Legion Post in Independence, MO.
On July 29, 1955 he married Doris Mae Reynolds. She survives of the home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sons, Robert Edwin Petty and Robert Earl Petty, Jr.; 2 daughters, Mary Jane McKnight and an infant daughter; 1 brother, Ronald Petty.
Survivors include his wife, 4 sons, Richard Petty, Independence, MO, Robert Eliot (Bobby) Petty, Independence, MO, Robert “Eric” Petty, California, Robert Erin “Rob” Petty, Independence, MO; 2 daughters, Evelyn Stone, Parkville, MO, Marla Mosby, Rangely, CO and 1 brother, Herbert Dean Petty, Modesto, CA.
Military graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO. Arrangements entrusted to the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, Parkville, MO.
Robert D. Muntz | d. May 20, 2008
Robert D. Muntz, 79, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Greensburg passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at his residence.
Robert was born December 11, 1928 in Haviland, KS the son of Calvin and Marry Ann (McKenny) Muntz. They preceded him In death. He was graduated from the Haviland High School. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea. He spent the majority of his working years as heavy equipment operator in the construction business. He married the former Phyllis Silver on December 23, 1955 in St. Johns, KS. They were later divorced.
He was a Christian by faith. He was a lifetime member of the VFW of Ellsworth and a former member of the American Legion Post in Ellsworth. He served on a committee to preserve social security and was a proud card carrying democrat.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and I infant sister. He is survived by 2 sons, Ronald D. Muntz of Kansas City, MO and Richard D. Muntz of Philadelphia, PA.
A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Haviland United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Walker officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Burial of the cremated remains will be held at the Fairview Park Cemetery, St. John’s, KS at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the church to be designated for the Tornado Disaster Relief Fund.

Clyde A. Bagley, 85, Kansas City, MO passed away Friday, May 16, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Military graveside services and interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Contributions are suggested to Highlands Congregation of Community of Christ Church, KCMO.

He was born April 12, 1923 in Highland Park, MI. He worked as a travel agent, retiring in 1981. He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Beatrice Bagley, brother, Darwood Bagley, and sister, Edna Louise Bagley Walker. Jerry Massey | d. May 14, 2008
Jerry Massey, 66, Riverside, MO passed away May 14, 2008 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born November 16, 1941 in Goff, KS the son of Elmer and Janie (Dehl) Massey. They preceded him in death.
He attended schools in Goff and later spent the majority of his working years as a laborer for a furniture warehouse in Kansas City. He was a Christian by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Survivors include 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Mr. Massey has been cremated under the direction of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, Parkville, MO. There are no scheduled services. Memorial donations are suggested to the Social Work Department at North Kansas City Hospital and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Ireta Mae Cocayne | d. May 11, 2008
Ireta Mae Cocayne was born June 2, 1912 to Julia and Ralph Fetters of Washington, Iowa. She died May 11, 2008 at St. Like’s Northland Hospital. Ireta has resided the last few years at the Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, Missouri.
Ireta was employed by JC Penny in Washington, Iowa; Community Herald Newspaper in Lawrence, KS; Secretary of Trinity Methodist Church, Kansas City, MO; North American Aviation during WWII and over 30 years with the Veterans Administration Regional Office, War Production Board, Civilian Production Administration, Dept. of Justice, and Office of Economic Opportunity. Her 30 years of government service was in the field of personnel administration.
She was a member of the Platte Woods United Methodist Church and served as Treasurer; President of the United Methodist Women & Wesleyan Service Guild; President of Veterans Administration Club; Charter member and served two years as President of the Parkville Business & Professional Women’s Club; Senior Citizen’s Board of Parkville; Council of Aging in Platte County, Vice President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter in Leavenworth, KS; member of the Federal United States Penitentiary Retiree’s Club; member of Church Women United, Platte County; Veterans Administration Annual Reunion Committee and a member of the Platte County Historical Society.
Ireta was preceded in death by her husband Chauncy (Toy), Step son Glen Cocayne and daughter-in-law Dorothy Cocayne. She leaves two grandsons, Mike Cocayne and wife Charlene of Trenton, MO and Dennis and wife Jodie of Excelsior Springs, MO; two great-grandsons, Bradley Cocayne, wife Kayla and Jeremy Cocayne; two great-great grandchildren, Leah and hunter Cocayne. She also leaves cousins Don and Karen Walton of Farmington, Iowa and Wilma and Marty Owens, Waynesville, Ohio.
The funeral service will be conducted 10:00a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, Parkville, MO with Rev. Harry Foockle officiating. Burial in East Slope Cemetery, Riverside, MO. Family visitation 6-8:00p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Platte Woods United Methodist Church.
VALERIE K. MOODY | d. May 6, 2008
Valerie K. Moody, 68, Parkville, Missouri, formerly of Cheltenham, England passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City. She was born September 3, 1939 in Cheltenham, England the daughter of Royston E. and Joan (Newman) Hobbs. They preceded her in death. She attended schools in Cheltenham and was a Christian by faith.
On August 5, 1972 she was united in marriage with Frederick “Paul” Moody in Cheltenham. Mr. Moody survives of the home in Parkville. Additional survivors include a son, Timothy Moody of Jupiter, Florida; a daughter, Tracy and husband Steve Nelson of Weatherby Lake, Missouri; a brother, Philip Hobbs of Cheltenham, England; a sister, Pat Forkin of Cheltenham, England; 2 grandchildren, Teagan Anderson of Weatherby Lake, Missouri and Tanner Nelson of Weatherby Lake, Missouri.
The funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008 at the Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church with Associate Pastor Craig Holstedt officiating. Cremation will follow the service with a private family burial to follow. There is no scheduled visitation. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or flowers may be sent for the funeral service in memory of Valerie.
