Robert Dewayne Ewing | d. December 30, 2008
Robert Dewayne Ewing, 58, Kansas City, North, formerly of Blue Springs, MO passed away December 30, 2008 at the North Kansas City Hospital. Dewayne was born February 11, 1950 in Springfield, MO to Robert Eugene and Louise Owens Ewing. He was a graduate of Blue Springs High School where he was a standout basketball player. He was a longtime employee of Goodyear Tire. A couple of Dewayneʼs favorite things in life were watching ESPN and drinking a cold Diet Pepsi. Dewayne was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Laurie Sue Ewing; daughter, Lynn Marie; mother, Louise Ewing and his favorite pet, a calico cat named Angel Marie.
The family wishes to thank the staff at North Kansas City Hospital for the excellent care they provided.
Mr. Ewing has been cremated under the direction of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. There will be no public services.
Anthony Marengo | d. December 30, 2008
Anthony Marengo, 70, Kansas City, North passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born April 18, 1938 in Brooklyn N.Y. to Louis and Jenny Mistretta Marengo. He attended St. Malarhy’s Catholic High School in Brooklyn. He was united in marriage with the former Patricia Sue Peters. They were blessed to have had 31 wonderful years together. She survives of the home.
Tony was a longtime Sales Executive in the wholesale meat business. He was currently employed with Scavuzzo’s Inc. in Kansas City. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a devout Catholic and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO.
Tony Marengo had a zest for life and a passion for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and this was evident in the numerous friendships he developed over the years. He enjoyed boating, spending time on the water, traveling, horses and occasionally smoking a good cigar. Tony was a big supporter of children’s youth organizations and charities.
In addition to his wife, Pat, he is survived by three sons, Dr. Anthony Marengo, D.D.S. and wife Toni of Lenexa, KS, Robert “Scott” Marengo and wife Trista of Springfield, MO, Sgt. Joseph Glen Marengo and wife Sunny of Ft. Hood, TX; four daughters, Eileen Marengo of Lenexa, KS, Teri L. Marengo of Lincoln, MO, Rosemarie Joan Marengo and husband Rick of Raytown, MO, Denise C. Jones and husband Tom of Parkville, MO; one sister, Joann L. Salvati and husband Alfred and family of Kansas City, North; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00a.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1357 N.E. 42nd Terr. Kansas City, MO 64116 with Rev. Gerald Waris as Celebrant. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the church. A committal service will be 1:30p.m. Friday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Kids with Cancer and may be left in care of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO 64152. Robert R. “Bob” Roster | d. December 27, 2008
Mr. Robert R. Roster, 74, Kansas City North passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at the Newmark Care Center in Kansas City, MO. Bob was born April 27, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO to Lawrence A. and Beatrice Blum Roster. He graduated from the Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph.
He married Kathryn Rock on June 10, 1961 at the Co-Cathedral Catholic Church in St. Joseph. They spent 47 wonderful years together. She survives of the home.
Bob worked in the Composing Room at the Kansas City Star for over 30 years. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, camping, boating and learning about antique cars. He also enjoyed just being around people. Bob never met a stranger. He was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jean Roster. In addition to his wife Kathryn, he is survived by two daughters, Lynette Foe-Aman and husband George, Long Beach, CA, and Lisa Nicholson and husband Mike, Platte City, MO; 2 brothers, Larry Roster, Kansas City, MO and Charlie Roster, St. Joseph, MO; 2 sisters, Janice McMullan, Kansas City, MO and Candice Kelley, St. Joseph, MO; 2 grandsons, Jake and Joe Nicholson, Platte City, MO.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at St. Therese Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO with Rev. Michael Roach as Celebrant. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 9:30-11:00a.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Therese Building Fund and may be left in care of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 main St. Parkville, MO 64152.
Donald S. Jack | d. December 24, 2008
Mr. Donald S. Jack, 79 of Parkville, MO. passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2008. Donald was born January 12, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from Purdue University in 1952. He was a resident of Parkville since 1958 and owned Donald S Jack & Associates Inc. a Structural Engineering firm since 1962.
His special interests included working, flying, traveling, running and Spanish Club.
He was survived by his wife Florence of 54 years, his three daughters and one son, Meredith Clarkson of Kansas City, MO., Susan Jack, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., Andrea Jack of Parkville, MO. & Charles Jack of Parkville, MO; grandchildren, Joseph & Emily Clarkson, of Kansas City, MO; siblings Grace Brickner, Meredith “Butch” Jack, Melissa Grimes, Alan Jack; step brothers Jake & George Coulter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Jack

Thomas Emery Daily, infant son of Timothy and Susan Daily of Parkville, MO, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Mass of the Angels will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2008 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 7207 N.W. Highway 9, Kansas City, MO with Rev. Pat Tobin as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. A viewing will be held from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2008 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland where the Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House or Children’s Mercy Hospital and may be left in care of the funeral home. Thomas was born on November 22, 2008 in Kansas City. Although he was born with congenital heart defects, Thomas was blessed with strength and beauty. Hundreds of family and friends followed his progress on various web sites and grew to know, love, and pray for Thomas. He touched so many lives, but especially those of his parents, who were overjoyed at how courageous, bright, and content he was during his brief life.
Thomas is survived by his parents, Tim and Susan; maternal grandparents, Donald E. and Lorraine E. Cullivan of Oak Bluffs, MA and Naples, FL; paternal grandparents, Thomas G. and Mary Anne Daily of Wayne, MI; maternal aunts and uncles, Paul Cullivan of El Paso, TX, David and Amy Chalmers of Malden, MA, Brian Cullivan of Boston, MA, Michael and Ellen DiNicola, Woburn, MA; paternal aunts and uncles, Michael and Annemarie Cash of Westlake, OH, Andrew and Karen Daily of Livonia, MI, Kevin and Jennifer McPherson of Mattawan, MI and Kevin Daily of Wayne, MI; cousins, Justin, Brandon, Colin, Taylor, Kirsten, Timothy, Rhett, Daly, Hannah, Max and Drew. Mary Jane Morgan | d. December 5, 2008
Mary Jane Morgan, 87, of Jacksonville, Ill., and formerly of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Friday, December 5, 2008, at Barton W. Stone in Jacksonville, Ill. She was born August 21, 1921, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of George and Golden Baughman Spencer. She married Hugh Massey and later married Louis R. Morgan; they both preceded her in death.
She was employed at the Internal Revenue Service and volunteered at the Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City with the crisis hotline. She was a member of the Lake Waukomis Garden Club and was an accredited flower show judge. She was a former member of the St. Therese Catholic Church, near Parkville, Mo.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne (husband Tom) McKean of Jacksonville, Ill., and Mary McCulloch (husband David), Kearney, Mo.; two sons, Marvin (wife Sharon) Massey of McCordsville, Ind., and Christopher Massey of Sarasota, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Robin Morgan of Turney, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Teresa Massey, Marvin Massey, Jr., Tabitha Massey-Marquez, Mary Jane Wittmaier, Jennifer Clarke, Jessica Wales, Erica McCrary, Rachel Hastert, James McKean, Emily McKean, Kristen Shaw and Karen Glaszczak, and seven great-grandchildren, Kelsie Hudson, Ryan Hudson, Whitney Massey, Spencer Massey, Brandon Shaw, Morgan Fisher and Isabella Marquez, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter Janet Clarke, stepson Curtis Morgan, and two brothers, Max Spencer and Bernard Spencer.
Graveside services and burial will be 10:30a.m. Thursday, December 11, 2008 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Fr. Mike Roach officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Rosebrooks's Shelter for battered women and may be left in care of the funeral home.
Lynne Cohen | d. December 4, 2008
Lynne Cohen, 63, Gladstone, MO passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Golden Living nursing facility in Smithville, MO. She was born November 13, 1945 to Harold and Beatrice Kurland. She was a homemaker and of the Jewish faith.
She is survived by a son, Mark Cohen, San Fransisco, Ca; a daughter, Shari Korn, Los Angeles, Ca, and a grandson, Brandon Lucas Korn, Los Angeles, Ca.
Mrs. Cohen has been cremated under the direction of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Norhland, 401 Main St. Parkville, MO. 64152 (816) 741-0251. There are no scheduled services.
Barbra W. Allen | d. December 1, 2008
Barbra W. Allen, 89, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 1, 2008. Mrs. Allen was born November 9, 1919 to Augusta and Wilhelm Buettner. She was an active member of the community and a member of the Parkville Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Allen was married to Samuel Lloyd Allen April 17, 1943. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She is survived by son Terry Allen of Oceanside, CA; daughter Barbara Arnold of Kansas City, MO; son Gary Allen of Parkville, MO; son, Gregory Allen of Mountain View, CA; daughter, Debra Allen-Barnes of Lawrence, KS; daughter, Nancy Barney of Kansas City, MO; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday December 30, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at the Parkville Presbyterian Church, 819 Main Street, Parkville, MO. In lieu of flowers; the family suggests contributions to the City Union Mission, 1100 E 11th Street, Kansas City, MO 64106.
Thelma Irene Arbogast | d. December 1, 2008
Thelma Arbogast, 87, Kansas City, North passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 at the New Mark Care Center. She was born April 12, 1921 to Earl and Edna Gatlin Born. They preceded her in death. She graduated from the Pleasanton High School, Pleasanton, KS. Thelma was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the Platte Woods United Methodist Church.
She married Winford Arbogast on May 3, 1946. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1984. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Hamilton, Ruby Shaw, Esther Denny and Arlene Stark.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald Arbogast and wife Jamie of Parkville, Mo, Robert Arbogast and wife Pam of Medford, OR; a sister, Lovetta Ward, Cheney, KS, three grandchildren, Kirsten, Colon and Kristopher.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:30a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. Visitation one hour prior to services. Graveside services and burial 12:45p.m. Saturday at the Trading Post Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Grace Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.
