Clint Jackson | d. August 29, 2008
Mr. Clint Jackson, 88, longtime Kansas City North resident, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008 at his home in Leawood, KS. He was born February 16, 1920 in Kingston, MO the only child of Clyde and Myrtle Cooper Jackson. They preceded him in death.
Clint was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1941 and was honorably discharged in January of 1946 as a 1st Sgt. in the 684th Engineers. During his service time, Clint served as an instructor of Engineering at Fort Belvoir, VA. He also served in the South Pacific. After returning from the service, he began working with the Damon Pursell Construction Company in Kansas City, MO. He retired in 2005 at the age of 85 as Vice President of the company.
He was united in marriage on February 2, 1951 to Wanda Lee Bendure in Webb City, MO. She survives of the home.
Clint became a member of the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City in 1947. He served as a Deacon, a Trustee, taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and with the Missionaires Gospel Quartet. He was a charter member of the Gashland Lion’s Club, member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star and served on the Board of Directors for the North Kansas City Hospital. He enjoyed hunting, following the Kansas City Royals and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Wanda, he is survived by his loving daughter, Meredith Kay Lutz and husband David of Leawood, KS and their children, Benjamin, Emily and Samuel.
“What a joy and comfort it is to know that Clint is now walking with his Lord and Savior on those streets of gold he so often sang about. He is once again enjoying fellowship with so many friends and loved ones.”
Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City with Rev. Tiger Pennington and Dr. Donald Wideman officiating. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 11:00a.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of North Kansas City or City Union Mission.
Ira Brimmer, Jr. | d. August 28, 2008
Ira Brimmer, Jr. 68, Parkville, MO passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008 at the North Kansas City Hospital. He was born October 15, 1939 in Cordele, GA to Ira Brimmer, Sr. and Eliza (McClinton) Brimmer. He attended public schools in Valdosta, GA.
He was united in marriage with Wylene Singleton on August 28, 1958 in Valdosta. They spent 50 blessed years together. She survives of the home in Parkville.
Mr. Brimmer was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Ford Motor Company on January 1, 2001 after more than 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge in Valdosta. He was a Baptist by faith, having been baptized at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Valdosta. He later attended the Greater Harvest Baptist Church in Newark, NJ and the Mt. Washington Baptist Church, Parkville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alvin J. Brimmer and sister, Hattie Brimmer. In addition to his loving wife Wylene, he is survived by a son, Jonathan Edwin Brimmer, Parkville, MO and a daughter, Winifred Eunice Edwards and husband Levester, Kansas City, MO; 7 grandchildren, Sabrina, Daphne, Edsel, Jasmine, Jaris, Erika, Taj and 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00p.m. Sunday at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. The burial with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army will be held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery on September 9, 2008. Following the funeral service, friends are invited to the Woodard Confrence Center (8700 NW River Park Drive, Parkville, MO) at Park University for food and fellowship with the family.
Robert E. Annis | d. August 23, 2008
Robert E. Annis,73, of Parkville, MO passed away at home on August 23, 2008. Bob was born May 14, 1935 in Greensburg, IN to Harold and Pauline Annis. He graduated from Osgood High School in Osgood, IN. He was a Repair Development Engineer for General Electric in Evendale, OH.
In 1981, Bob became a Senior Repair Development Engineer for Rolls-Royce Inc. in Kansas City, MO. He went to work for Praxair Surface Technologies in NKC as a Senior Engineer in 1994. He loved working and accomplished much of which he was proud. Bob married Sandra Schoonover on June 20, 1990.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Cathleen. Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra Annis of Parkville; children David Annis, Paula Cupp, and Ginger Berg of Ohio; a son Carl Annis of Kansas City; and a step daughter Sylvia Wylie of Parkville. He had 18 grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 28 at 9:30a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 10:30a.m.at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland in Parkville, MO. Burial will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
William Ivory Bowens | d. August 22, 2008
William Bowens, 39, of Grandview, MO passed away on August 22, 2008. William was born August 1, 1969 in Gary, IN to Reverend Jesse Bowens and Doris Smith. They preceded him in death. William worked at the Louisiana Fish Dock Restaurant in Kansas City, MO.
Survivors include his loving wife Patricia Bowens ; children William Ivory Bowens, Jr., Dajuan Bowens, Latrell Bowens, Conchetta Bowens, Jaleesa Bowens, Shaqia Bowens; three grandchildren; one brother Adrian Bowens; and one niece Andrea Hair all of Kansas City, MO; his aunte, Rita Mae Smith, Gary, IN and a host of extended family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday August 29, 2008 at 9:00 A.M., followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M. at the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland in Parkville, MO. Cremation will follow. Phyllis R. Uncapher | d. August 19, 2008
Phyllis R. Uncapher, 87, Kansas City, MO passed away August 19, 2008 at the Garden Valley Manor in Kansas City. Phyllis was born March 1, 1921 in North Webster, IN to James and Ruth Eberly Rothenberger. They preceded her in death. She was a homemaker.
She was united in marriage with I. Craig Uncapher on October 19, 1943 in North Webster. He preceded her in death in 2006. She attended the Park Hill Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Philip Uncapher, Pittsford, NY; 2 daughters, Sea Raven, Gerrardstown, WV and carol Singer, Minneapolis, MN.
It was her wish to have her body donated to the University of Kansas Hospital for medical research. There are no scheduled services. Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice. William Frank Budvovitch | d. August 5, 2008
Bill Budnovitch 63, Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at his residence. Bill is survived by his son, William (Billy) C. Budnovitch and wife Jenn; daughter, Larisa A. Conklin and husband Blake Conklin; 3 sisters, along with many dear friends. There will be a private family celebration of his life. Bill was very successful in business, a great teacher, a good friend and wonderful father. He will be missed by all and remembered with great joy. Lorraine Lusero | d. August 3, 2008
Lorraine Elizabeth Lusero, 62, Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 17, 1946 in Earling, IA to Leo and Ruth Gross. They preceded her in death. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in Earling. Lorraine spent the majority of her working years in the banking business; most recently US Bank in Kansas City.
She married John Joseph Lusero on July 5, 1969 at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha, NE. They shared many blessings during their 39 years of marriage. Lorraine was a devout catholic and member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO. She enjoyed music, traveling, theatre and most of all spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by one son, Jeffrey J. Lusero, Chicago, IL; three daughters, Renee Elizabeth Callahan and husband Jim, St. Louis, MO, Melissa Anne Springer and husband Marc, Kansas City, MO, Kristine Marie Lusero and fiancé Christopher Rivers, El Paso, TX; two sisters, Patricia Leuschen, Panama, IA, Joanne Oppold, Dunlap, IA; three brothers, Allan Gross, Mayetta, KS, Darrell Gross, Earling, IA, Gaylord (Joe) Gross, Earling, IA. She was also blessed with two grandchildren, Isabel Elizabeth Callahan, St. Louis, MO and Magdalena Theresa Springer, Kansas City, MO.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00a.m. Thursday, August, 7, 2008 at St. Therese Catholic Church with Father Mike Roach as celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection North Cemetery in Kansas City. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5-8:00p.m. at the church, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00p.m. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the Kansas City Hospice or American Cancer Society.
