George Henly Hedges

George Henly Hedges 72, of Kansas City, Mo. passed away Friday January 20, 2012.  Private inurnment services with military honors to be held at a later date at Mt. George, an amazing father, grandfather, and brother was born July 24, 1939 the son of George Henry and Phyllis Mae (Weaver) Hedges.  He was a 1957 graduate of Central High School.  He served his country in the US Navy.  He retired from Consolidated Freight after 25 years of service,  and had previously worked for Union Pacific Railroad.  He was also a member of Teamsters Union #41, and had served as the past union representative. George loved to go to the boats, and loved all sports especially the Chiefs and Royals.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Gerald Henry Hedges.

Survivors include his daughter Debbie Dye and husband Brad of Parkville, Mo.  Grandchildren Brandon and Brooke Dowell of Kansas City, Mo.  Sisters Sharon Giro of Grain Valley, Mo. and Sue Hocking of Kansas City, Mo. Brother Glen Howie Hedges of Pasadena, Texas.
