Gerald Robert Jordan |

Gerald Robert Jordan, born October 21, 1928 in Battle Creek, Iowa to Fern Leslie Jordan and Hope Eleanor Heath-Jordan. He graduated from Cushing, Iowa High School in 1946 after 8 years of rural elementary schools in Ida County, Iowa and his freshman year at Battle Creek High School.

He was a veteran of the WWII era, having enlisted in July, 1946 in the United States Army for 2 years. He served overseas in Panama. After his honorable discharge he worked on the family farm, at Windcharger Radio Factory, and at Cudahy Meat in Sioux City, Iowa. He did paint contracting while attending Morningside College, then worked 5 years in insurance underwriting. He worked for Social Security, for 13 years as a postal clerk and carrier, and 1 year as a postmaster at Holstein, Iowa. He worked at Coast to Coast for 12 years. He retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant.

He was a Bible teacher and M&M choir member at Plaza Heights Baptist Church since 1970 and volunteered at Blue Springs Care Center for worship and praise services.

Victor M. Bromley | d. June 25, 2009

Victor M. Bromley, 76, of Oak Grove, Missouri peacefully passed into the loving arms of God surrounded by his family on June 25, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be held at Broadway Baptist Church (600 SW Maple Lane, Oak Grove, MO) from 2-3 pm on Monday, June 29, 2009. Memorial services will follow at 3 pm. Burial will take place at Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Broadway Baptist Church or to the Leukemia Research Foundation.

Vic was born on October 14, 1932 in Maysville, Missouri to Floyd and Glenna (Moore) Bromley. He was united in marriage to Joyce C. Hatfield and they enjoyed 36 years together. He served his country from 1950-1953 in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Vic was a Master Carpenter and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved to spend time gardening and watching the Royals and Chiefs, and often found himself helping neighbors and others out. Vic loved to volunteer his time and instill key values in children and spent a few years coaching Little League. Each year, his team won the Sportsmanship Trophy. Vic could accomplish anything he set his mind to, and was sought for advice from many people. He was a wonderful and loving father and was named “Father of the Year” in the Blue Springs Examiner in 2004. Vic will be truly missed by all his family and friends.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents; nine siblings; daughter, Lisa; granddaughter, Fallyn Bromley; and great-granddaughter, Kelsye Bromley.

Lester Henry Eisenmann | d. June 25, 2009

Lester Henry Eisenmann, I “Les”, 87, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on June 25, 2009 at Christian Healing Center. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with funeral services at 11 am. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Lester was born on November 1, 1921 in Wellington, Missouri to Henry and Emma (Vieth) Eisenmann. He served his country as a Master Sergeant in the USAF from 1942-1964. On June 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to Irene Catherine Bruegging. Les and Irene owned and operated Henry’s Cheese House in Preston, MO from 1974 to 1980. From 1982-1983, he was employed by Gaslight Real Estate in Blue Springs, MO. He and Irene later owned and operated Henry’s Gifts in Nemo, MO from 2000 to 2005.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Norma Simmerman and Verna Johnson Burr; and grandson, Douglas Eisenmann.

Vernon Joe Lambert | d. June 19, 2009

Vernon Joe Lambert, 73, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on June 19, 2009. Graveside services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri at 1:00 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2009. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Kansas City Hospital Hospice.

Vernon was born on February 29, 1936 in Junction City, KS to Joseph and Ella (Young) Lambert. He was a Vietnam Veteran and had served his country in the Navy from 1954-1983, earning the rank of Chief Yeoman. Vernon was previously employed at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, MO as an Administrative Assistant. He was a master quilter and had won many awards with Twilight Stitchers Guild. Vernon was a member of the Great Dane Rescue Society and had helped many dogs have a good life. He was a very caring and helpful person and was loved by all his nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Young.

Vernon is survived by his sisters, Vivian Cantwell of Blue Springs, MO, and Delores Casey of Meridian, KS; along with many nephews.


Margaret P. Feldman | d. June 18, 2009

Margaret P. Feldman, 81, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on June 18, 2009 at her home. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2009 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Elliott presiding. Burial will be at 1:00 pm at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Margaret was born on October 28, 1927 in Kansas City, Kansas to Jacob and Emma (Zeh) Brening. She was the first generation to be born in the United States. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1945. In July of 1946, she eloped to South Carolina and was united in marriage to Louis Robert Feldman; together they lovingly raised four children. In 1965, she and her husband opened Louie’s Farm and Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. When Louis passed away in 1983, she moved to Blue Springs. Margaret and her son own Feldman’s Farm and Home. Margaret was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church. She was a stroke, ovarian cancer, and broken hip survivor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis, and daughter, Nancy Pugh.

Leo B. Burke | d. June 18, 2009

Leo B. Burke, 79, of Lake Tapawingo, Missouri passed away on June 18, 2009. Visitation will be held from 1-3 on Monday, June 22, 2009 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church. Funeral mass will follow at 3:00 pm. Burial will be held at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Leo was born on November 22, 1929 in Brandon, IA to Leonard and Alice (McDonald) Burke. He was united in marriage to Barbara A. Masteller on February 4, 1950. Leo’s family was his life.

He is survived by his children, Linda Baker Seattle, WA, Karen Crosby Harrisonville MO, Dennis Burke Lone Jack MO, Barbie Griffith Garner KS, Beth Phillips Blue Springs MO, Bernard Burke Lee's Summit MO; 13 grandkids, 15 great grandkids

Theresa Ann Fifer | d. June 18, 2009

Theresa Ann Fifer, 40, went to walk with Christ on June 18, 2009. Visitation will be held at Plaza Heights Baptist Church from 6-8 pm on Monday, June 22, 2009. Funeral services will be at the church at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to a fund for her children’s college education to be set up at a later time.

Theresa was born on December 22, 1968 in Kansas City, Missouri to Jim and Charlene (Robinson) Taylor. She was united in marriage to David Wayne Fifer on September 25, 1993. She was a devoted Christian and was strong in her faith. Theresa loved listening to country music and working on Sudoku puzzles. She was always there to help others through her friendship, volunteering, and work. Theresa was a RN in the Education Department at Centerpoint Medical Center. Her laughter and smile will remain in our memories forever. She is truly loved and missed.

Theresa was preceded in death by her mother, Charlene Taylor in 2007; and brother, Jimmie Taylor, Jr.

She leaves behind her husband, David Fifer of the home, two beautiful girls, Samantha (15) and Katie (12); father, Jimmie G. Taylor of Blue Springs, MO; two sisters, Betty F. Pointer & husband, Kenny of Fort Osage, MO, Robin J. Rippy & husband, Jeff of Kansas City, MO, and all who loved her.

Mitzi Ellen Heath | d. June 10, 2009

Mitzi Ellen Heath, 49, of Independence, Missouri passed away on June 10, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 11 am at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Mitzi was born on October 22, 1959 in Japan to George B. Funk, who preceded her in death. From a young age, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Nancy and Warren Lockard, who soon became her loving parents. She worked as a mechanic for Pepsi Cola for many years. Mitzi loved to spend her extra time crocheting, reading. When her children were younger, she enjoyed taking them to the Kansas City Zoo.

She is survived by her children, Mark Funk of Independence, MO, Ashley Heath of Independence, MO, Dominic Castilleja of Independence, MO; parents, Nancy & Warren Lockard of Osceola, MO; sisters, Ramona Lockard of Warsaw, MO, Noma & Lou Dobbs of Blue Springs, MO, Kim Lockard of Kingsville, MO; and two grandchildren, Zachary & Anthony Funk of Kearney, MO


Henry Vernon Pressly | d. June 10, 2009

Henry Vernon Pressly passed from this life and into the next on June 10, 2009. He was born November 20, 1924 in Blue Springs, Mo. to Henry Charles Pressly and Ruby Pearl (Pem) Pressly. He was their only child. As the only child of a farming family he was doted on but also learned to be a hard worker. He graduated from high school in Buckner, Missouri. After high school, he joined the Air Force. While stationed in California, he met Dorris Marie Renner. They got married in 1951 and moved back to Missouri to start a family and so Vernon could farm with his Dad. He continued to farm for some time after his father passed away. After that he worked at the Lake City Army Ammunition plant until he retired. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2004.

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorris in 1994 as well as her daughter, Kathleen Ann, in 2007. He leaves behind 4 children. Rosie (Pressly) Umstattd and her husband, Jim, Jeannie (Pressly) Gaffney and her husband, Jack, Ron Pressley and his wife, Lisa, and Dan Pressly and his wife, Lora. There are also 6 grandchildren-Dan’s boys Jeremiah, Jacob, Jon, and Jesse; Ron’s daughter Jennifer, and Kathy’s daughter Elaina; and 2 great-grandchildren, Austin Vick and Cinnamin Gordon.

Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm at Meyers Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 15, 2009. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 pm at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Carla Ann Jones, 32, Edgerton, MO passed away June 10, 2009.

Carla was born August 17, 1976 in Independence, MO to David and Mary (Kasem) Williams. She loved spending time with her children. She had a very joyful and robust laugh that was precious, capturing smiles on those around her.

Nathan Michael Casey | d. June 9, 2009

Nathan Michael Casey, age 30, of Blue Springs, MO died June 9, 2009. Nathan was born March 30, 1979 in Clinton, MO. Nathan was a 1997 graduate of Blue Springs South H.S. In 2001, Nathan graduated from SMSU with a degree in accounting. Nathan enjoyed watching sports. Baseball and football were his favorites, particularly the New York Mets and Oakland Raiders. Nathan was a very compassionate and forgiving person. He was always ready with a smile and a hug or a strong handshake. Nathan is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lloyd R. Casey and Wilmer J. (Bill) Brumit. Nathan is survived by his parents, Lloyd and Brenda Casey, his sister, Angela Post, her husband, Aaron and son, Dane, his grandmothers, Mary Kay Brumit and Tina Casey, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be missed.


Bertha S. Beck | d. June 2, 2009

Bertha S. Beck, 95, Blue Springs died Tues June 2, 2009 at Centerpoint Hospital in Indep. Mo. Visitation will be held from 11 am-12 noon on Thursday, June 4, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs. Services will follow at noon at the church. Contributions can be made to Vesper Hall, Blue Springs and or First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Bertha Beck was born in Wakefield, MI. She enjoyed going to Vesper Hall everyday to enjoy the friendship and activities. She was known as "The Hat Lady" to the people who knew her. She made beautiful newspaper hats and finished it off with a certain colored flower to match what she was wearing. She was a beautiful Mother who was very understanding and forgiving. Her survivors include two sons, Neal (Beverly) Beck, Blue Springs, David (Claudia) Beck, Wichita, Ks.; three daughters Beatrice (Paul) Cermak, Lutz, Fl. Rosemary (Tom) Martin, Blue Springs, Mo., Rita Beck, Blue Springs, Mo., 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Otho O. Beck, daughter, Carol J. Thies and son John C. Beck.


Beverly Ruth Bridgewater | d. June 1, 2009

Beverly Ruth Bridgewater, life-time resident of Blue Springs passed away at the age of 72 at her home. Services will be held at Meyers Funeral Chapel on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society.

Beverly was born on August 25, 1936 in Blue Springs, Missouri to Francis and Anita (Robinson) Richardson. She was united in marriage to Clifford Lee Bridgewater on February 26, 1975. Beverly was a member of the First Christian Church of Blue Springs, enjoyed attending events for the Red Hat Society. Beverly enjoyed gardening and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, Abby and Colin. She had a very sharp wit, loved to work on crossword puzzles, and spend time with friends. Beverly was a caring and thoughtful woman who will be sorely missed by all who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Clifford Lee Bridgewater.

Ernest E. “Sonny” Anselmi | d. June 1, 2009

Ernest E. “Sonny” Anselmi, 74, of Arma, Kansas passed away on June 1, 2009 at Freeman West Hospital after a long and courageous battle. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, June 5, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Robert McElwee presiding.

Ernest was born on May 17, 1935 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Edward and Margaret (Robinson) Anselmi, who preceded him in death. He was a 1954 graduate of Arma High School. He was married to Ernestine Chiartano for 53 years. Ernest was the former owner of A&A Service Station and Crestview Lodge Nursing Home. He was employed as a salesman at Ray Shephard Motors and had also worked for the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Ernest served the town of Arma as a former Mayor, School Board Member of USD246, former President of the Arma Homecoming Association, was an active Arma Council Member, and a member of the Masons and Shriners. Ernest enjoyed the time he spent with his family laughing and talking over dinner. He loved to go fishing in his spare time when he wasn’t watching KU basketball, the KC Chiefs, or the KC Royals. Ernest was a vital member of the community and of his family and will be missed by all who loved him.
