Thomas Edwin Warren | d. July 31, 2009
Thomas Edwin Warren, 55, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on July 31, 2009 at the Kansas City Hospice House. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John LaLande Catholic Church on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 11:00 am with Fr. Angelo Bartulica presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Tom was born on April 13, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late David I. and Alice C. (McCullough) Warren. He was a graduate of Ruskin High in Kansas City and went on to be employed at JC Penney, Mid America Contractors, and at the 71 Highway Newsstand.
He is survived by his siblings Jerry Warren of Kansas City, MO David Warren of Grandview, MO, Donald Warren of Kansas City, MO, Alice Goergen & husband, Todd of Blue Springs, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Melba Dean (Kirkpatrick) Wiley | d. July 29, 2009
Melba Dean (Kirkpatrick) Wiley, 73 of Independence, MO went home with Jesus on July 29, 2009, at North Kansas City Hospital after a 20 year battle against Diabetes.
Melba Dean was born March 6, 1936, in Rector, Ark to Alfred “Slim” and Ruby (Long) Kirkpatrick, the youngest of three daughters. As a teenager, the family moved to Riverside, CA. Melba Dean graduated in 1953 from Poly-Tech High School, and then attended Riverside Business College earning her Associates Degree.
Melba Dean married and returned to Missouri, raising her family in Independence and Blue Springs while working outside of the home. For more than 30 years, M. Dean Wiley was known as a most successful Real Estate Broker and loved helping people through this vocation. During her life, Dean, was also involved in her churches, Rockwood Baptist in Independence and First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. She formed life-long friendships at each. Dean was active in church league sports, loved to teach, and served on the personnel committees. She also led RAs for her son and GAs for her daughter, and found time to attend baseball, softball, and dance classes with them. Dean also enjoyed attending a regular Bible Study and playing Bridge with her friends at the Sermon Center and Blue Ridge singles. M. Dean had extensive libraries of books and music and loved to travel. She was able to travel to Israel several times to walk the path of Jesus’ footsteps, and was known to take off on a road trip on a moments notice. Melba Dean had a joyous spirit and loved life!
Melba Dean is survived by her son, Ross Wiley, her daughter, Laurie Dean Wiley, and her grandson, Adam Fisher Wiley, all of Independence, MO. Her Sister, Kathy Bateman of Marmaduke, Arkansas and granddaughters, Angela Jean Thompson of KS, and Rachel Anderson of TX, plus a huge “family” of life-long friends.
M. Dean was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Betty, and her daughter-in-law, Shirley.
A Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday at 7PM at Meyers Chapel in Blue Springs with visitation beginning at 5PM.
Determined to not let Diabetes defeat her joy, hope, or dreams, Dean became a living testimony to the power of prayer. The family encourages donations in her honor to the Heart of America Diabetes Research Foundation.
Dorothy Sidgreaves | d. July 23, 2009
Dorothy Sidgreaves Massey, 88, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home on July 23, 2009. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 11 am at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection (1433 NW R.D. Mize, Blue Springs). Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Resurrection or to Kansas City Hospice.
Dot was born on January 7, 1921 in Bridgeport, CT to George and Mary (Morrow) Sidgreaves. She was united in marriage to Harry T. Massey on July 30, 1947. Two daughters were born to this union, Debbie and Annette. Dot was their Girl Scout leader from 1957-1967. She was affectionately known as the “Supervisor” at all family get-togethers. Dot was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She loved playing bridge and collecting antiques.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Massey in 2008; and a sister.
Dot is survived by her daughters, Debbie Ellsworth of Olathe, KS, Annette Massey of Oak Grove, MO; grandchildren, Rebekah Brooks (Nick), Nathan Ellsworth (Leslie), Jeremy Skeen, Sarah Sutterby (Gary), Luke Ellsworth (Joy); and great-grandchildren, Zach, Bryant, Caeleb, Christian, Calvin, Maddie, Allie, and Wyatt.
Glenn H. Binger | d. July 16, 2009
Glenn H. Binger, 78, Blue Springs, Missouri passed away July 16, 2009 at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence, MO.
Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:30 Sunday, July 19, 2009 at the First Christian Church 701 N.W. 15th Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015.
Service will be held at 10 am Monday, July 20, 2009 at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lobb Cemetery Association.
Glenn was born February 8, 1931 in Blue Springs, MO to Herman H. and Gladys (Lowe) Binger. After a stint in the Air Force, he opened a service station and sold cars. He then went to Adams Dairy as a sales manager for 17 years and was the last employee to work there. Glenn owned and operated Binger-Shaw auctioneer service for 46 years. He was a Missouri State Representative from 1974-1988 and it was here that he championed causes for veterans. He was chairman of the veterans committee for 8 years and was proud to be called a “flag waver”. He was past president of the Missouri Auctioneer’s Association and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1986. He was a 60 year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge; life member of VFW #6603; member of American Legion #499; charter life member of the Blue Springs Historical Society; member of the 40&8 club; 50 year member of Masonic Lodge 76; Member of the First Christian Church and Past President of the Lobb Cemetery Association. He will always be remembered as an avid poker player.
He was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Jayme Miller.

Deborah Ann (Costick) Cummings | d. July 14, 2009
Deborah Ann (Costick) Cummings, 55, of 1813 NE Gatewood Drive, Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on July 14, 2009 at home in the presence of her family, after a lengthy battle with colon and kidney cancers.
She was born on January 13, 1954 in Pottsville, PA, the only daughter of the late Edward and Pearl (Klinger) Costick.
She and her husband, Michael C. Cummings, were marred on September 21, 1985 at the historic Trinity Chapel in Buck Run, PA.
She was a 1971 graduate of Minersville (PA) High School. With a boundless spirit and youthful exuberance, seeking new challenges and untold adventure, she enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1974. She earned several medals, citations, and awards, along with the rank of Staff Sergeant during her 11 years of proud service. A trailblazer for her gender, she was the first woman to be assigned crew duty for the shifts that lasted several days at a time in the missile launch facilities. Her assignments took her to CA, CO, MD, MS, NE, TX and WY. She resided three recent years in FL and had also lived the The Netherlands for several years. She earned an associate degree in human services in 1989 from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE.
A woman of varied interests; at different times during her life she worked in such diverse fields as culinary arts, mainframe computer operations, public parks and recreation, as well as being a mail clerk, bartender, and factory worker. Her greatest joy was as wife and mother.
A longtime member, and active in the support of all veterans, she served for several years as Finance Officer of the Cascade American Legion Post No. 239 in Cascade, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Michael Leigh Cummings on April 3, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, and her daughter Christina, at home. Also surviving-her son, Kenneth Jewell, and his wife SSgt Brandi Jewell, Illinois ANG and daughter Dakota of Mascoutah, IL,-two step-sons, Stephen Cummings of Marion, PA and Jeffrey Cummings of State Line, PA. Other survivors include her only brother, Edward Costick of Buck Run, PA, and her granddaughter, Ashlyn Jewell of Waynesboro, PA.
A funeral mass will be conducted by Fr. James Healy at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Blue Springs on July 17, 2009 at 6:00 pm.
Ellen Gertrude Gray | d. July 13, 2009
Ellen Gertrude Gray, 90, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on July 13, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with funeral services to follow at 11:00 am. Burial will be at a later date at George Washington Memorial Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Ellen was born on January 8, 1919 in New York City to Samuel and Gertrude Taylor. She was united in marriage to Herbert Gray in June of 1971. Ellen had worked at various places including Peck & Peck Department Store and most recently in the Activities Department at the Nursing Center for Disturbed Boys. She was a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church. Ellen loved going to dinner at the Elk’s Lodge with her family and swimming at the Centennial Pool with her good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Francis Butler, Thomas Mason, and Herbert Gray; son, James Thomas Butler; and brothers Samuel, Arthur, George and Charles Taylor.
Ellen is survived by her son, Francis Butler of Blue Springs, MO; daughter-in-law, Gwen Butler of Blue Springs, MO; step-sons, Kimble Mason & Jeanne of San Mateo, CA, James Mason of Thousand Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Theresa Cirillo, Diane Butler, Catherine Lesco, Thomas Butler, Susan Boyle and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves devoted friends, Grace & Dennis Mrowka, Terry Hackett, and Troy Dudley, all of Blue Springs. She will be sorely missed by all who enjoyed her for her wisdom, wit, spunk and hilarious stories.

Kenneth Scott Hiles | d. July 13, 2009
Kenneth Scott Hiles, 47, of Blue Springs, MO, went to be with his heavenly father, Monday, July 13, from his home. Visitation will be from 11am – 1pm on Friday, July 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent care of Meyers Funeral Chapel.
Kenneth was born on October 28, 1961, to Sylvester (Jack) and Barbara (Peters) Hiles in Independence, Missouri. The family moved to Blue Springs in 1976. Kenneth worked at a variety of occupations—cook, custodian and truck driver. He then began his own company, K&K Enterprise, in which he worked at remodeling homes and businesses in the Blue Springs and Independence areas.
Kenneth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs where he served on a number of committees. Kenneth had a passion for helping those who needed help and spent a great deal of time working with these people through the IMPACT Ministry and the Special People’s Ministry of the church. He was a member of the Bible Study Fellowship International for eight years. He worked with a number of area ministries including Set Free and Houses, and Heart and Hands.
Kenneth leaves his mother, Barbara of the home, a brother, Ronald Everett of Kansas City, and a niece, Rachel, also of Kansas City.

Wyatt Dre Bilton, infant son of Arthur A. and Amber D. (With) Bilton, II, became one of God’s little angels on July 12, 2009. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel from 5-7 pm. Graveside services will be on Friday, July 17, 2009 at Thompson Cemetery in Knoxville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandfather, Ralph With; and paternal great-grandfathers, A.C. Bilton and Art Putnam.

Frank Patrick St. Clair, 50, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on July 11, 2009. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Council Blue Elk District.
Frank was born on March 29, 1959 in Newton, Kansas to Herbert and Kathleen (Casey) St. Clair. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1977-1981. Frank was united in marriage to Kelley Lou Beckman on June 27, 1981. He was currently employed at Black & Veatch Engineering Firm as a Computer Technician. He was certified in A+, Network +, and Microsoft and was a member of the Local 1290 Laborers Union. Frank loved to spend his spare time fishing, working on cars with his boys, and participating in their Boy Scouts programs. He was the biggest KU fan and would never miss a game.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Elsie Jones and brother-in-law, Terry Osborne.

Jerry P. Redding | d. July 11, 2009
Jerry P. Reding 69, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away Saturday July 11, 2009 at the University of Kansas Hospital. He was born December 31, 1939 the son of Francis and Charlyne (Castle) Reding. He was married to Sharon (Johnson) Reding April 15, 1972, she survives of the home. He was a longtime member of St. John Lalande Catholic Church in Blue Springs. He worked for General Motors for many years.
Jerry and Sharon enjoyed traveling and antiquing with there friends Ron and Jan Niemann. His other passions were growing tomatoes which he loved sharing with everyone, planting flowers and mowing his yard. He also collected Greyhound bus models. He loved sports of all kinds but most of all coaching from the bench at his best friend’s softball games.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Martha Glasscock. In addition to his wife Sharon, he is survived by two daughters, Nicole Vanderpool and husband Tom of Grain Valley Missouri and Alyssa Reding of Grain Valley, Missouri; two grandchildren, Nate and Rylan Vanderpool; two brothers, Michael Reding and wife Cindy of Liberty, Missouri and Chris Reding and wife Pam of Grain Valley, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 pm Wednesday July 15, 2009 St. John Lalande Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday July 14, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 W. Main St. Blue Springs, Missouri 64015. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Amercian Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Dean Eldon Morrow | d. July 8, 2009
Dean Eldon Morrow, of Hoover, Alabama, formally Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the age of 80 after a long battle with heart disease. Mr. Morrow was born in Topeka, KS on January 18, 1929 to Charles E. and Alberta Anderson Morrow. He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His career was with the Treasury Department of the Federal Government. He held positions in Omaha, Kansas City, St. Louis, Boston, Austin, and Washington, D.C. He was appointed to the Senior Executive Service and advanced to the position of Assistant Commissioner, Internal Revenue Service. He retired from the government in 1984 after 30 years service. He operated a family owned business, Greenbriar Cleaners, in Fairfax, VA from 1985 through 1996. Mr. Morrow was an active member of Hoover First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed sports all his life and was an avid golfer and fisherman. His hobby was researching genealogy. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Morrow and Jack Morrow, and his sister, Beverly DeKrey. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Marilyn Mahan Morrow; three sons, Gary Morrow (Lisa) of Leawood, KS, Darren Pack (Cari) of Blue Springs, MO and Christopher Morrow (Amy) of Birmingham; a daughter, Patti Wilkerson of Mission Hills, KS; eleven grandchildren, Madison Morrow, Davis Morrow, Jeffrey Pack, Christopher Pack, Andrea Morrow, Stuart Morrow, Madeline Morrow, Joseph Morrow, Dean Morrow, Laura Wilkerson and Grant Wilkerson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 10-11 am at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will take place in Blue Springs Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions to Hoover First United Methodist Church (1934 Patton Chapel Road Hoover, AL 35226).In Memory of Mr. Marrow.

Betty J. Scott, 82, Blue Springs, MO passed away July 6, 2009 at St. Mary’s Hospital Blue Springs, MO
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am Thursday July 9, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 West Main Blue Springs, MO 64015 816-229-3276. Service will follow at 11 am at the chapel and burial will be at the Hermitage City Cemetery Hermitage, MO at 3 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made payable to the family for pulmonary fibrosis research at KU Medical Center and/or St. Luke’s Hospital.
Betty was born September 1, 1926 in Cross Timbers, MO to Charlie W. and Cora Lee (Harlan) Miller. She was a Lab and Gage Inspector for Lake City Ammunition Plant at which she worked for 35 years until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pete W. Scott, parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Antonio B. Young, Jr., was born on April 7, 2009 in Independence, Missouri to Jennifer K. Ellis and Antonio B. Young, Sr. He passed away at the age of three months on July 4, 2009. Visitation will be held from 12 noon- 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Services will follow at 1:00 pm.
Antonio was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Mary Johnston.
He is survived by his mother, Jennifer K. Ellis; twin sister, Amiya K. Young; great-grandfather, James Johnston; grandparents, Peggy Hennon and Garry Overturf; aunts and uncles, Melissa Mustain, Bradley Hennon (Jolene), Letticia Hennon (Denicio Carter), Tiffany Ellis (Charles Brown), Ashley Ellis, eight cousins and many family and friends.
