Inez Marie Mencke Dexheimer | d. August 30, 2009
Inez Marie Mencke Dexheimer, 88, of Blue Springs, MO passed away August 30, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held Wednesday September 2, 2009 from 10:30-11:30 am at the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs 301 Woods Chapel Road Blue Springs, MO 64015 816-229-8108 with services following at 11:30 a.m. . Burial will be at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Inez was born April 7, 1921 in Blair, Nebraska to Louie and Lillie (King) Mencke. At the age of 15 she attended school at Midland College and University of Omaha where she earned a teaching degree. She taught school for many years in Nebraska and Missouri. She also taught for the Grandview School District. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs and was active in the Methodist’s Women’s Organization. Inez was very active in volunteer projects and with her husband published a Historical record of The Fort Osage Cemetery. She was active all of her adult life in Girl Scout Activities winning a commendation for her organization of a joint program with the French Girl Scouts while residing in Europe. She was the wife of Harry Dexheimer who together with his wife operated a Real Estate/Home Builder’s business in Blue Springs. She was also active with the VFW Auxillary, the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, the Royal Neighbors of America.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Lloyd Mencke.

Lloyd Edward Trotter | d. August 27, 2009
Lloyd Edward Trotter, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Carrollton, MO, passed away on August 27, 2009 at St. Luke’s Northland. Graveside services will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO at 11 am on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 where full military honors will be presented.
Lloyd was born on August 28, 1927 in Carrollton, Missouri to Joel E. and Marguerite A. (Gray) Trotter. Lloyd served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was employed as a Corporate Executive at the North American Rockwell Corporation. Lloyd was a member of the American Legion and the Masons. He was attending St. Therese Catholic Church.

Edna Jean Hall | d. August 17, 2009
Jean Hall, 84, of Independence, Missouri passed away in her home of 57 years because of complications related to cancer on August 17, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted by Father R. Stone on Friday, August 21, 2009 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, 1000 E. 50th St. Kansas City, MO 64110.
Jean, the eldest of four sisters, was born on July 21, 1925, in Tulsa, OK, to Maurice M. and Edna M. (Foos) Middaugh. Jean was united in marriage to Raymond C. Hall on June 5, 1947. For over 50 years, Jean hosted Thanksgiving dinner for all the relatives. Thanksgiving dinner will never be the same. She received her Masters in Education from UMKC and taught high school history for many years at Southeast and Central High Schools in the Kansas City School District. She combined her dedication to teaching with a love of traveling and visiting many exotic locations around the world including China, USSR, Egypt, Africa, South America and Europe. After retiring from teaching, Jean volunteered for many years at the National Frontier Trails Center and served as a docent at the Truman Library. She was a member of the Nativity of Mary Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Mary Younger.
Jean’s thirst for knowledge and sense of adventure survives in her three loving children, Michel Hall Wofford (David) of Kansas City, MO, Dan Hall (Jeanne Beechwood) of Kansas City, MO, and Tim Hall (Julie) of Mequon, WI.
Other family includes her step-son, Larry Hall (Nancy) of Willard, MO and their children, Kimberly, Nikki, and Kevin; sisters, Sue Blake of Kansas City, MO, and Ann Lacey (Bob) of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren Nathan Holt, Monica Toro Burguete (Julio), Cassandra Beechwood-Hall, Aaron Hall, and Chad Hall. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jimmie Lee Dolt | d. August 15, 2009
Jimmie Lee Dolt of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, August 15, 2009 at age 60 after an eight-month battle with cancer. Born July 12, 1949 to Lloyd and Vera Dolt of Kansas City, Missouri, Jim has two younger brothers - Gene and Sister - in - Law Belinda of Lawson, Missouri and Herman of Los Angeles, California. He was dearly loved by his father-in-law, Harold Wilken of DePierre, WI; sister-in-law, Donna Buehler of Green Bay, WI; and brother-in-law, Dan Wilken & wife, Karen of Oak Ridge, TN. Jim cherished all of his nieces and nephews. Jim graduated from North Kansas City High School before enlisting in the Navy in 1967. He served during the years of the Vietnam War aboard the heavy cruiser U.S.S. Canberra and light destroyer DE-1054 U.S.S. Gray. 27 years ago, Jim married the love of his life Carol Wilken (Dolt). Together they have two children Christopher, 22 and Meagan, 25.
In the grocery business for most of his life, Jim spent the last decade with Cosentino's Food Stores. If you passed through Jim's store, he would likely greet you with a hand shake or hug followed by a warm conversation about life and family. Often customers would stop in just to "see Jim!” His many interests included golf, cheering on the Chiefs and Royals, dancing, fishing, boating, photography, movies and a Soft-Coated Wheaten named Maggie. Jim is a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Independence, Missouri.
This past year, Jim set and accomplished two important goals. Despite pain and fatigue, he attended his son Chris' college graduation in May, and in July he walked his daughter Meagan down the isle to her new husband Tony Pierce.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with Father James Taranto as Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri where full military honors will be given. Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Kansas City Cancer Center Charitable Fund, care of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, 1055 Broadway, Ste. 130, Kansas City, MO 64105. Lois Q. Shipley | d. August 10, 2009
Lois Q. Shipley, 95, of Independence, Mo, passed away on August 10, 2009. Lois was born on Nov. 23, 1913 in Mapleton, Kansas to Lee and Elizabeth (Lucas) Quick.
She married Melvin Shipley in 1933. He preceded her in death in 1964, as did her son, Drew, who in 1967 became a causality of the Vietnam War. She is survived by her daughter, Dedra Whitcomb. Two grandchildren, Heather and (Kenneth) Woodruff and Bran and (Brandy) Whitcomb all of Tulsa, Ok. She will be remembered lovingly by her family and her many friends across the country.
Lois graduated from high school in Fort Scott, Kansas in 1931. She received her B.S. degree from Pittsburg State in 1956 and her Masters in Mathematics in 1967. Most of Lois’s teaching career was full-time math classes at Will Rogers Jr. High in Miami, Ok. She was instrumental in bringing the Chi Alpha Mu Math Club to the school. She became the National President of the Math Club for ten years and grew the club from three with 183 members to 65 clubs with 6,280 members. She spent many years traveling coast to coast giving presentations on the benefits of Chi Alpha Mu and demonstrating “Fun Things To Do In Math Class”, many times to standing room only crowds. She also was President of the Oklahoma Teachers of Mathematics for several years. She retired from teaching in 1978. Lois, never content to be idle, a few months later went to Honduras and taught at the LaBuena Fe Mission for a year. After returning, she started a health food store in Miami and owned it for 10 years. Later she opened another store called “Tea For Two”. In 1990, she moved to Independence.
Lois’s passion has always been teaching children and thru the years taught Sunday school classes, many camp classes and Jr. Church. She has written and published children’s church curriculum and puzzle books on scriptures and math. One of her unique talents was putting scripture and math concepts to music and strumming her guitar as she taught the children. Lois dedicated her life to teaching children. Her love for music was also seen in her participation in Sweet Adeline singing group.
She was very involved in the Pro-Life cause and rode the bus to Washington D.C. several times to march in support of the Pro-Life movement. She also lobbied every year in Jefferson City. She was truly an activist for Godly causes. Her travels took her to Alaska, to the Holy Land, Egypt and Central America. She was a member of the South Crysler Restoration Branch.
Lois donated her body to the University of Kansas for research. Her memorial service will be Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 Salisbury Road, Independence, MO 64050. Lois requested no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lois Shipley Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1097, Indep. Mo, 64051.
Gilda Maraine Deaton | d. August 10, 2009
Gilda Maraine Deaton, 55, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on August 10, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm, Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Lakeview Pentecostal Church in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Scott Smith will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, August 14, 2009 at the church. Burial will follow at 1 pm at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
Gilda was born on June 23, 1954 in Rainelle, West Virginia to Bill and Edna (Burdette) Richmond. She had worked many years as a Registered Medical Assistant at Children’s Mercy and recently became a Lab Tech. Gilda was the family strong-hold and caregiver. All her family would check with her first before making any important decision. Her advice was priceless. Gilda cherished all her grandchildren and loved it when they spent Saturday nights with her. She was full of life and never stopped working. Her spunk and liveliness will never be forgotten. Gilda took all her commitments seriously and was entrusted to take care of the flowers at the church after she could no longer serve in the nursery.
Gilda was preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers.

Sarah was born December 14, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to William D. and Edna (Smith) Shepard. She was a dental assistant at Truman Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl D. Crenshaw March 29, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Robert L. Springston, 84, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on August 6, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Interment will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Grain Valley, MO. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Monday at Meyers Funeral Chapel, where a rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm. Robert was born on October 5, 1924 in Mildred, Kansas, the son of Roy and Jennie (McCulley) Springston. He was united in marriage to Marlys (Bingham) on April 23, 1942. Robert was a long-time Over-the-Road truck driver for Campbell “66” Express. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Robert was a very loving and dedicated family man, and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Springston in 1997; brother, Ernest Springston; sisters, Hazel Wimpey and Arlene Heeter.
