Charles Edward Rogers | d. December 31, 2008
Charles Edward Rogers “Chuck E.”, 55, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on December 31, 2008 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 6:00 pm, Monday, January 5, 2009 at St. John LaLande Catholic Church (805 NW R.D. Mize) in Blue Springs, Missouri with Rev. Angelo Bartulica as Celebrant. Cremation will follow. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm, Monday evening at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Youth Soccer Association.
Chuck was born on June 24, 1953 in Long Beach, CA to Charles F. and Vivian (Robinson) Rogers. He grew up attending St. Stephens Catholic Church and was currently a member of St. John LaLande Catholic Church in Blue Springs. For 25 years, he was employed at Consolidated Freightways. Chuck loved soccer and enjoyed being a Soccer Referee Emeritus. He was last employed at Casework, Inc in North Kansas City. He was a member of the Blue Springs Elks Lodge #2509 and Teamsters Local 41. In his spare time, he could be found riding his Harley and “pushing peoples’ buttons”.
Chuck was preceded in death by his Grama Gurney.

John Edward Shields | d. December 27, 2008
John Edward Shields, 69, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 11:00 am at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be at 1:30 pm at the Paola Cemetery in Paola, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to help defray funeral costs.
John was born December 28, 1938 to Byron B. and Freda Hayes Shields. He was a Methodist by faith. in the 1970’s John owned Shields Chevrolet and Buick. In the late 70’s and early 80’s he owned and operated Shields Real Estate and Auctioneering. He was a member of the Army National Guard, and the Lions Club of Paola, Kansas. He enjoyed music, fishing, and hunting. He was also a volunteer at the Vesper Hall in Blue Springs, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Weston Shields, and sister, Betty Matney.
John is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Seaman of Blue Springs, MO; sons, Brett E. Shields and wife, Toni of Pleasant Hill, MO, Jeffrey E. Shields and wife, Deborah of Winter Park, FL, Spencer C. Shields and wife, Kristy of Olathe, KS, Wesley R. Shields and wife, Andrea of Olathe, Kansas; sister, Gloria Stone of Louisburg, KS; eleven grandchildren; and his best friend and companion for the last five years, Larisa Anders.
The family of John will be accepting friends at the El Tapatio Restaurant after services in Paola, Kansas.
George William Driver | d. December 23, 2008
George William Driver, 91, of Kingsville, Missouri passed away on December 23, 2008 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Missouri. Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, December 26, 2008 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with funeral services commencing at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Floral Hills East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO.
George was born on July 13, 1917 in Piedmont, Missouri to William and Alice Emery (Lampkin) Driver. He served his country in the Army Air Corps. George was a machinist and had previously been employed at Wittie Engine Works. George was a member of the VFW in Lee’s Summit, Missouri and the First Baptist Church of Blue Springs, and loved to spend time fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Driver; parents, and two sisters.

Robert Allen Supplee | d. December 22, 2008
Robert Allen Supplee, 67, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 22, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. Rosary will be said at 9:00 am on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with the funeral mass commencing at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice or the American Lung Association.
Robert was born on November 15, 1941 in Helena, Montana to Joseph E. and Evelyn (Rief) Supplee and was raised by Evelyn & Oscar Faustlin. He graduated from De La Salle Military Academy and attended college at Kansas State. Robert retired from his position as Supervisor of Maintenance from Certainteed Corp. in Kansas City, Kansas in 2002. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was attending St. John LaLande Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dennis Supplee; and granddaughter, Samantha Kristine Supplee.

Richard (Rick) Lawrence Nigro | d. December 18, 2008
Richard (Rick) Lawrence Nigro, 63, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Fort Myers, FL passed away on December 18, 2008. Born on October 15, 1945 to Michael & Francis Anne Nigro of Kansas City, KS, who preceded him in death along with his grandparents. He leaves behind his step-mother, Angie Nigro of Kansas City, MO and step-sisters, Mimi, Angela, and Julie; son, Lance Nigro (wife Carol) of Independence, MO; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; Aunt Babe, Uncle Vic, Aunt Grace, Uncle Tom, Aunt Carm; and two very special cats, Magic and Snowflake. Rick will be missed dearly, but loved forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 6-7 pm on Monday, December 29, 2008 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with memorial services to be held at 7:00 pm.
Dorothy A. Goodrich | d. December 17, 2008
Dorothy A. Goodrich of Bethany, MO and formerly of Grain Valley, MO., succumbed December 17, 2008 after a short illness. She was born February 4, 1917 in Skiatook,OK. to Leon and Dora Taylor. After graduation, she attended Independence Sanitarium and Hospital in Independence, MO where she earned her Registered Nursing degree in 1939. She married Edwin L. Goodrich of Kansas City, MO on March 9, 1940. They made Jackson County their home for over 68 years.
Mrs. Goodrich served as Assistant Director of Nurses and Director of Nurses at the Jackson County Hospital, now Truman East in Lee’s Summit. She was a member of Lake Lotawanna United Methodist Church. Besides her family, Dorothy enjoyed many handcrafts and traveling.
She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Olive Taylor and Helen Taylor and a brother LaVern Taylor all of Skiatook, OK. She leaves her beloved husband, Edwin L. Goodrich, one son John Edwin Goodrich of Atlanta, GA, one daughter, Sharon Jane Slama of Bethany, MO, three grandchildren, Jill Goodrich Ekhlas of Cumming, GA, Wade Slama of Overland Park, KS and Chad Slama of Warrensburg, MO. She leaves three great-grandchildren, Jake, Dahria and Ryan Ekhlas of Cumming, GA.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 pm at Meyers Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 19, 2008. Committal services will be held at the funeral home. Burial will be at Floral Hills East Cemetery.
Walter W. Enyart | d. December 17, 2008
Walter W. Enyart, 79, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on December 17, 2008 at his home. Burial took place at Baxter Springs Cemetery in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
Water was born on December 12, 1929 in Quapaw, OK to Holly and Tina Enyart. He was united in marriage to Carlina Raffal on June 27, 1992. Walter served his country in the Vietnam War and was a past member of American Legion Post #499.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Charles was born February 1, 1941 in Topeka, Kansas to Charles and Daisy (Tubbs) Brown. He was a truck driver for Yellow Freight. Charlie’s early career was in sales with A.B. Dick Company. After leaving A.B.Dick, Charlie and Marie owned and operated Charlie Brown’s Express Print. After selling the company he fulfilled a childhood dream of becoming a truck driver. He was a Baptist by faith. Charles was a Teamster also. He loved working on cars. He enjoyed Nascar and Sprint Cars and had also pit crewed for the Sprint Cars.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

Danny was born Jun 22, 1948 in Savannah, IL. to Dell and Velma (Marburger) McElroy. He was a manager at Builder’s Square. He was a member of the Crosscreek Baptist Church in Oak Grove, MO; the Sons of American Legion Post #499. He enjoyed fishing and going to the casino, but most of all loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; Brothers Wes, Eldon, Robert Chrest and Sister Vera Behan.

Elva Dorothy Mershon, 98, formerly of Blue Springs, MO passed away December 3, 2008 at The Windsor of Lawrence nursing facility in Lawrence, Kansas.

Elva was born August 21, 1910 in Annes, Kansas to Louis and Minnie (Kunnemann) Meyer. She was a medical assistant for Dr. Bay until his retirement and then continued on with Dr. Whitley until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs . She was instrumental in forming the Quilter’s Club at Vesper Hall. After her retirement she put in over 5000 hours of volunteer work at St. Mary’s Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 1945, her parents, and a daughter Alice Leitch in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her father Gordon Ackley.
