Scott W. Baird, 39, Independence, MO passed away July 29, 2007 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday July 31, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Chapel 1600 West Main Blue Springs, MO 64015 816-229-3276

Service will be 11 am Wednesday August 1, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Chapel.

Burial will follow at Lobb Cemetery Independence, MO

Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for his children.

Scott was born February 12, 1968 to Thomas and Linda (Olson) Baird in Independence, MO.  He worked in inventory for Precise Forms for 19 years. He was a member of Crossroads Church in Grain Valley, MO. He loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He loved being around people and enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboy football.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Derek House.

Leonard “Bo” Hotmer, II, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on July 26, 2007. A rosary service will take place at 4:45 PM at St. John La Lande Catholic Church with visitation held from 5-7 PM on Monday July 30, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday July 31, 2007 at 10 AM, also at the church. Interment will directly follow services at Bates City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Leonard “Bo” Hotmer, II Soccer Scholarship Fund, care of Greater Blue Springs Community Foundation. Bo requested a few weeks ago, that if anything ever happened to him, he would like it if no one wore black or gray to his funeral.

Bo was born on February 26, 1991 in Blue Springs, Missouri to Leonard and Cynthia (Thomas) Hotmer. He was a student at Blue Springs high school and was ready to start playing soccer for BSHS—he was going to be a junior, and his favorite subject was math. Bo loved life and enjoyed every minute of it, whether he was skateboarding, listening to music, playing violin, hunting, fishing, or reading a new book that he had just got. Even though he was a tease and loved to make people laugh, he was very loyal to his friends. Bo was a Boy Scout for many years, and played soccer with BSSA for 8 years.

Lura Ann (Gilbert) Ogle, 79, of Oak Grove, MO passed away on July 18, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.

Lura was born on September 16, 1927 in Brookfield, MO to Thomas F. and Mary J. (Helton) Donahue. She attended and graduated Brookfield high school. Lura enjoyed reading but most of all valued family and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was employed by the State of Missouri as a State Board Park Member. Lura was Catholic by faith and was a previous member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Libby Peters, and Cecil Mae Stirling.

Betty A. Brown-Ruble, passed away Monday, July 16, 2007, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be held from 2-3 PM on Thursday July 19, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with funeral services to follow. Interment will take place in Blue Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

She was born in Buckner, MO on March 3, 1927 to Ralph & Bessie (Scrivens) Markham. She attended the Buckner Schools. She married Cecil W. Brown on November 24, 1945. They lived in Grain Valley all their married lives. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Ann Brown in 1964 and Cecile King in 1998; and two sisters, Melissa Gillison and Bertha Craig.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Ruble of Odessa, MO. They were married May 5, 2004. She is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kendra & Richard Lee; three grandchildren, Freddy King, Stacy & Mike Anderson and Lisa King; five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Breanna, Tiffany, Chase and Zane; siblings, Margaret Cartmill, Viola Kincaide, and Junior Markham.

Betty was a Christian by faith. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading, cooking, and spent most of her adult life going Country Western dancing on the weekends. She also enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Odessa where Betty & Raymond were crowned Senior King and Queen for the town’s annual fair. Betty (Mom) will be greatly missed and never forgotten by her husband, daughter and son-in-law, and many other family members and friends.

David Leonard Gorski, 58, Blue Springs, Missouri passed away July 12, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO.

Cremation with private services at a later date

David was born November 18, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland to Leon and Antoinette (Protasiewicz) Gorski. He was a Civil Service Employee for the State of Maryland.
He loved being with his grandchildren; listening to music; and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers football fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry Allen Case, 54, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on Tuesday July 10, 2007 near Eudora, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday July 13, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with a memorial service to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.

Jerry was born on January 15, 1953 to James and Martha (Turner) Case in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from Blue Springs high school in 1972 and went on to become a 34 year member of the Iron Worker Local #10. Jerry loved working and it became his life. He was a well-respected man in the business, and was fair to all who worked with him. Jerry will be missed every day.

He was preceded in death by his father, James.

Kurt J. Halupnick, 45, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital on July 2, 2007. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday July 6, 2007 at First Baptist Church of Blue Springs with funeral services to follow. Private inurnment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the “Cole Memorial Fund” at any branch of CommunityAmerica Credit Union.

Kurt was born on June 19, 1962 in Hudson, Iowa to James Halupnick and Barbara Denker. Kurt loved life and cherished every minute of it. For about 25 years, he worked as an HVAC Tech for ABC Home Heating and Cooling until he attended Blue River Police Academy. Kurt served Blue Springs as an officer since April 2005—but there were also many other facets to him. He was a guitarist and lead singer of a local band called Mortal Reign for many years. Kurt loved being outside and just enjoyed nature—whether riding his motorcycle or barbequing in the back yard.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Helen Halupnick, Bill and Alice Denker; Grandmother-in-law, Pauline Houston, and one of his best friends—Taurus, his dog.

Robert Ewing Buck, Jr., Blue Springs, MO, passed away July 4, 2007. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral services to be at 11:00 AM Saturday July 7, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Home, Blue Springs, with the Reverend E. M. Hay officiating and burial following in Blue Springs Cemetery. Special thank you to Dr. Gay Purcell and also to all the wonderful people with Grace Hospice; very special thanks to Tamara. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Hospice (9233 Ward Parkway, K.C., MO) or the Building Fund of Noland Road Baptist Church.

He was born August 21, 1922, in Columbia County, AR, to Robert Ewing and Bessie O’Banion Buck. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Cabaniss on January 4, 1951. He dearly loved his Lord and his family; his children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946 and was in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre 2 years. He graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA, in 1950 with a BS in Civil Engineering. He retired as Division Manager with Amoco Oil Co. after 32 years. He was Past President of the El Dorado, AR, Lions Club, member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, and was a Deacon Emeritus of Noland Road Baptist Church, Independence, MO.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Raymond, Horace, and Clifton.
