Darlene Ruth Matson, 70, of Blue Springs, MO passed away on August 21, 2007 at her home. Visitation will be from 11 AM – 12 PM on Thursday August 23, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be in Angola, Indiana and burial at Pleasant Lake Cemetery on Monday August 27, 2007.
Merle Gordon Smith, 86, of Oak Grove, Missouri passed away on August 22, 2007 at Oak Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 26, 2007 from 2-3:30 PM at Meadowview Gardens (view www.meadowviewgardens.net for address and map). Funeral services will proceed the visitation at 3:30 PM conducted by Elder Michael Ballantyne. Entombment will take place at Floral Hills East Cemetery on Monday, August 27, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Oak Grove Restoration Church.
Merle was born on April 6, 1921 in Muskegon, Michigan to Edwin L. and Ruth Olive (Welch) Smith. He was raised by E.A. McMichael. Merle was united in marriage on April 3, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI to Gladys B. Schlender. He was a carpenter by trade. Merle enjoyed painting with oil and acrylics. He was very creative and crafty! Merle served his country in the US Armed Forces from 1942-1945.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, in 2002; mother, Ruth Olive McMichael in 1996; and infant brother, Garnet Smith.

Mary Sue Callihan, 72, of Higginsville, MO, passed away on August 19, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Graveside services will be held on Friday August 24, 2007 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery (20109 Business Hwy 13 Higginsville, MO 64037) or to charity of choice.
Mary was born February 4, 1935 in White Rock, MO to Otto and Ann (Gibson) Henderson. She grew up in White Rock. She graduated from Carrollton high school in 1952. She married William Scott Smithpeter, Sr. in 1952. They had 5 children. They resided in the Carrollton/Bogard area. Following William’s death in 1978, she married Benny G. Callihan in 1980. They resided in Independence, MO for 10 years before retiring to the Lake of the Ozarks where they lived for 20 years. Following the death of Benny in 2004, she returned to the Kansas City area and had recently moved to Higginsville, Missouri.
Mary cherished her family, especially her grandchildren, loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs, going to the casinos, and spending time visiting with her brothers and sisters. She also loved her many nieces and nephews.

Rose Edna Swenson, 95, of Lake Tapawingo, MO passed away on August 14, 2007 at St. Mary’s Manor. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM on Friday August 17, 2007 at Meyers Funeral Chapel with entombment at 11:00 AM at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayside Waifs Humane Society (P.O. Box 9791 Kansas City, MO 64134).
Rose was born on March 24, 1912 in Lincoln, NE the daughter of George and Molly (Kohn) Wertz. She met her husband, Dale, while attending college. They were married on April 19, 1933. Rose was a member of the Kiwanis Auxiliary and the Lake Tapawingo Women’s Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, in 2006 and her sister, Bertha Kess.

Cassandra Greashaber, 58, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on August 10, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at St. John La Lande Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM also at the church. Interment will follow at Buckner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your charity of choice.
Cassandra was born on January 28, 1949 in Granite City, Illinois the daughter of Joseph and Margi (Magyar) Veizer. She attended and graduated from Rogers high school in Toledo, OH. Cassandra was devoted to her God and dedicated in sharing her faith. Cassandra loved photography and spent many hours creating pictures of family, friends, and scenery. Nyckeoluz C. P. Gillihan, 29, of Liberty, MO passed away on August 9, 2007 due to a tragic motorcycle accident. An open visitation will be held from10 am to 12 pm on Monday, August 13, 2007 with funeral services at noon at Meyers Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow services at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given for a trust fund for his daughter, Britani, care of her grandfather, Gerald Gillihan.
Nyckeoluz was born on September 25, 1977 the son of Gerald L. and Barbara (Teuful) Gillihan in Kansas City, Missouri. He was self-employed and worked with concrete for many years. Nyckeoluz enjoyed singing karaoke and going to the lake. He loved spending time with his family, but his passion was motorcycle riding.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Nick, in 1974, mother, Barbara, and grandparents.
